all files can be found at wiibrew.org
Semi brick
cause: wrong system menu installed
effect: settings menu wont load
1.install homebrew channel any way
2.use any region changer to install correct region
OR
open a wii disc (correct region) with trucha signer, open partition "relsab" and find a .wad that says "sys menu". use the latest disc possible. install it with wad manager. use the latest disc possible. also find "ios30" and install that.
Banner brick
cause: faulty channel installed
effect: freezes at "press a" or gives "system files are corrupt" screen"
1.use savemii to boot homebrew channel installer disc
2.make trucha disc with wiimu to boot homebrew channel (use savemii)
3.use any title deleter to delete bad channel
Full brick
cause: wrong system menu installed
effect: opera style error screen
1.use savemii to boot homebrew channel installer.
2.use trucha wiimu disc to boot homebrew channel. (use savemii)
3.use any region changer to install correct region
OR
open a wii disc (correct region) with trucha signer, open partition "relsab" and find a .wad that says "sys menu".use the latest game possible. install it with wad manager. also find "ios30" and install that.
Low level brick
cause: basic software corruption (boot0,1,2 - menu wont load)
effect: black screen
NO FIX
installation of homebrew channel (no chip):
1.copy private folder from zip to sd card
2.copy boot.elf to root (not in any folders) from zip to sd.
3.copy save of zelda twilight princess region to wii
4.load correct save (table) here) and talk to guy or walk backwards
5.accept all the stuff
How to make a trucha disc
1.open trucha signer
2.open game iso and open game partition (not relsab)
3.find main.dol in partition
4.replace it with your .dol homebrew (not .elf)(right click to replace)
5.right click the partition and trucha sign it!
NOTES:
trucha disc needs menu 3.2 or lower and modchip
homebrew channel installer requires menu 3.2 or lower and modchip
no modchip homebrew channel installation requires zelda twilight princess
install homebrew channel before brick if possible - use any region changer to install 3.2x (internet needed). alternatively, open partition "relsab" of a wii iso and look for sys menu and ios30 wads. install these with wad manager. use latest disc possible

For the first semi brick instructions (i.e. 1 and 2), does your wii have to be connected to the internet? It tells me I need to be connected to a network to download the Ios. Is there any way around this?

Starfall only works on wii firmware 3.2. So its a good suggestion unless they have a different firmware, then its useless.
Of course if they're on a later firmware than 3.2 with a semi-bricked wii and dont have the homebrew channel already installed then they're already out of luck, since theres no way to install the channel then.

Installed the AnyRegion and followed instructions. I did enable GC, WII auto region settings. Now the Wii loads to a black screen with 4.01 (USA)in the lower corner. It will load ONLY a Wii original title. I cannot get my menu's back or get a GC game to run either.
HELP!

This answer is most lilely to be hell late but, well. To fix that, simply disable anything related to autoboot/autostart games. I don't know if the situation happens due to some bug or misuse, but that will give your system menu back to you.

i was reading if you fully brick your system and cannot recover it, due to lack of preloader installed, or some other software that does the same thing. you can actually order the mod chip, install it.. then download the Nintendo Restore Disc, and it works like a Windows Restore disc you get when you purchase your computer. It might be worth investigating instead of paying Nintendo to fix your Wii, or buying a new console!

Hi
I have "system files are corrupt..." so I think its Banner brick.
It happend after this part of softmode guide:
"
IOS60Patched and NeoGamma R7:
Run WAD Manager.
Select A to agree to the disclaimer.
Select IOS version to use: <IOS249> Press A.
Select NAND Emulation device <disable> Press A.
Select source device: <Wii SD Slot> Press A.
Go to IOS60patched.wad and press A.
Select action: <install wad> press A.
After it installs IOS60patched go to NeoGamma_R7.wad and press A.
Select action: <install wad> press A.
After the WAD files are installed press HOME to return to the Wii System menu. "
I have installed bootmii and Homebrew Channel so I can use at deleter (I hope)
How do I know which channel is bad?
I found 3 Unknown channels, name database is updated.
thanks
g

This usually happens when preloader is installed and you install IOS60Patched.wad after installing Preloader.
Did you install Preloader .29?
If so boot into Preloader then start the Homebrew Channel and reinstall Preloader ,29 again.
If you didn't install Preloader then I have no idea what has happened because you shouldn't have got that message.
Did you backup your NAND?

This is normal. You will get a few bad factory blocks.

Hi there, can anyone help me....
I tried to use the sd card/hdd system to play backed up games on my wii, i had trouble getting the cIOS files to load although homebrew channel and usb loader did start up and seem to work - but i think i may have bricked my wii by trying a few too many times to get the ios file on, as now it wont read my original disc - I keep getting an erro message, I panicked and have deleted the homebrew channell and reformat the wii but still nothing... says unable to recognise disc in wii even though it is a true game that played up till today....
please help otherwise i will have to go buy a new wii for the kids as it is spring break here and they are dying to play now!
cheers

It sounds like a semi brick locked to an incorrect region, are you able to access the system settings menu still? have you used any region changer previously? have you installed a incorrect system menu for the region settings? If you are unable to reinstall homebrew channel due to a lack of IOS's from the format, you need to do a system update from a Wii disk, and you should be able to reinstall homebrew channel and change the region back to the correct one.
Hope that helps :)

This gives me hope, but could you "talk a little more slowly" for me here please?
After messing around with it (which we now regret) we turn on the wii and get to the wii menu (the homebrew channel and usb loader channels are now gone) the disc channel shows the two empty discs picture and when prompted to play a game that worked before it says that there is an error reading the disc. (the game it mario-sonic olympic games) otherwise everything looks back to normal - except wont play.
so my question essentially is-
1. have i wrecked it?
2. if no- what steps do i take to restore it to playing either original games
or
3. steps to get it to play from the usb hdd?
I really do appreciate anyone taking the time to explain this to an idiot who should have left things be in the first place!
cheers kate

Hi guys,
Looks like yesterday I have had an artefact that the theme creator called a "BANNER BRICK"...
Here is the video of what's going on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Oji55PZCQI
Please, would you be so kind to say if it is theoretically unbrickable, because I did NOT install any preloader of HackMii or smth like that. Did not do this coz everything worked well so far, until I started to install a Loadstructor wad-channel from here http://clusterrr.com/Loadstructor.html and after reset I see only a black screen after pressing "A" (see the video plz).
I did not quite understand what is that sequence:
1.use savemii to boot homebrew channel installer disc
2.make trucha disc with wiimu to boot homebrew channel (use savemii)
3.use any title deleter to delete bad channel
Should I do this one step after another or these are 3 different ways to solve the problem? Also I really did not understand what is that "homebrew channel installer disc".
Please, anyone, I am begging you to help me because I am completely lost :)
Thanking everyone in advance!

hey hey!
if someone can help me please!
i dont know what type of brick i have as this is what happened.
yesterday i bought retail dj hero for pal.
i have a 3.1e pal with wiikey.
i looked online if there were any problems with retail dj hero and
everyone said no.
so i updated from the disc.
the updated completed and then wii tried to reboot and then blank.
nothing. everytime i turn it on, there's no signal to the tv, remotes
dont work, but the green led light is on and i can eject and put in discs.
is there any solution to this? i didn't have any softmods installed.
is it doomed?

need help if anyone knows how to recover this one???
I have cocked up this wii.
I had it on 4.3e but alot of the games were not working, and I read that it would be better on 4.2e.
Anyway I followed a tutorial how to downgrade to 4.2e and it did not go well
So I used nus downloader to downgrade to 3.2e and the screen would not boot up.
Luckily I think,I managed to install bootmii as boot 2
But it will not load hbc or any dol or wad files.
I figure if I could get wad manager on I would be able to reinstall all of the files that I deleted in any title deleter.Reason I mention this is I deleted all of the system titles in tha title deleter as I have done this before with other wii consoles.
Thanks in advance
