I just hooked up a PC system to a new samsung 500 series hdtv via DVI -> HDMI to watch bluerays. My problem is I'm running the sound from the computer to my receiver and getting nothing. I've confirmed that the sound IS coming out of the PC by using headphones.

The output of the PC sound card is using the standard 1/8th TRS miniature but the input of the receiver is via RCAs. So I dug up an old stereo 1/8th to RCA wire, tried it out and nada. I assumed the wire was bad because it was old so I tried another with the same results. I just can't get sound out of the receiver. I've tried hooking the PC sound up directly to the audio inputs of the TV as well with the same results. I've tried different output jacks of the PC audio card with no dice.

This isn't a codec issue because I've confirmed that the PC IS outputting sound by checking it out with headphones. I really can't wait to watch iron man in blue ray but I need to figure this sound issue out first.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)
