Okay, So today as I was playing Fallout 3, I got the dreaded RRoD. I used Llama's guide to fix it and now I'm stuck. I removed the X-Clamp, installed the new screws for the heat sink for the GPU and put everything back together. I went to overheat it to set everything in place, but the fans won't start up. Well, they start up for a second and then immediately shut down. What could be the problem? Also, I don't know if you normally can open the DVD drive with the RRoD, but my DVD drive doesn't open. I still have 3 Flashing lights, but the fans don't spin, and they have been flashing for about 15 minutes. I would assume if everything was working normally, the CPU would have overheated by now and I would only have two flashing lights. What went wrong? Is my box completely fried?

Any suggestions would be great as I really don't want to buy a new XBOX right now.

did you keep the cpu cool while overheating? the idea is to keep the cpu cool and get the gpu hot.

Yeah my problem was the fan stopped working, and it didn't seem like either the GPU or CPU were heating up, but I can't understand why the fan would stop working, or what could go so horribly wrong that nothing would heat up. Any thoughts to why the fan would stop working?

make sure its plugged in, try spinning it yourself to give it a boost could be stuck. if not you are SOL but its not the end of the world, you could just buy a small desk fan and leave the case off. so try not to worry about that fan too much. thats the least of your worries right now, you just want to try and get the box back up and running.
