Hi,

Being stupid on a trip I put my PSP in my bag which the rain soaked through and my PSP got a bit damp while it was in its sleeve.

At first everything is working normal, the screen is fine, I can turn it on and off correctly and I'm able to play games. The problem lies with the buttons along the bottom. When at the main menu they all seem to work (apart from the Home button). Its only when playing games there are problems, So here they are:

1.When playing a game the Home button doesn't work.
2.The volume keys don't work although they do when not playing a game.
3.The brightness and sound keys, when pressed bring up the menu that the Home button is supposed to, from here the brightness/sound can be changed once it appears.

So looking at that I have so really weird problem, I have looked at others on these boards and they only seem to have problems where nothing works. The Start and Select buttons work fine however. Even though I have never opened it before I'm willing to as it went out of warranty years ago (its a phat model running OFW 3.80)

Sorry for going on a bit, Thanks for Your Help.

Hi there!, sounds like a hardware fault most likely the button bar needs replacing. this is rather inexpensive and easy to find on sites such as ebay,

if the above does not fix the problem then it lies with the motherboard and will be expensive, £50 at most sometimes they go for cheap but i don't this is necessary as the above solution should fix the problem,

hope this helps

Well i dont know if you have fixed it but once i modded my psp and afterwards when i pushed the volume buttons, home menu came up.

The problem was a VERY small tin drop in powerboard (X,O,/\,[] board)
where the little ribbon goes. it connected the volume and home tins so if there was some water connecting them i think thats the prob.

Off topic, im finally senior member! :)

well a good old drying of the board on a light setting using a heatgun in a circular motion should dry off any moisture... just dont concentrate the heat on anything for longer than a second to avoid damage,

hope it all works out :)
