Hi,
A few weeks ago I managed to install XBMC on my mates old xbox successfully and decided I wanted on for myself. So I purchased an xbox from ebay with the intention of upgrading it's hard drive. But it turns out something was already installed:

I loaded up Splinter Cell the same way I did to my mates Xbox to try and uninstall it but I got no Linux option. I did however manage to enter the xbox using FTP and saw the following files and structure (there are many other drives but they are all empty):

And

And within E/Backup/MS/ there's all this:

Like I said, my initial idea was to try and uninstall it and then proceed to try and upgrade the HDD but I don't know how to do that any more. Maybe someone knows how to do it using FTP.

Alternatively considering I'm looking to upgrade the HDD anyway, is it possible just to backup a few files from this and then try and upgrading without restoring the current HDD?

Any help would be appreciated guys.

You can just ftp over a copy of XBMC to somewhere on the E: drive, then manually tweak the evox.ini file to point to the XBMC location.
It's not too difficult to edit, though i've messed it up a few times (make sure to back it up first).

Here's an extract from one of my machines -

Quote:
[Menu]

Section "Root"
{
Item "Play Game from DVDROM Drive / RESET",@5
Section "Play Games from HD"
{
Line "- Games on the Hard Drive -",2
SortStart
AutoAddItem "f:\games\"
AutoAddItem "e:\HDDLoader\"
SortEnd
}
Item "DVD MOVIE Player - Region Free","e:\Apps\DVDX\default.xbe"
Item "XBMC - MP3's, Movies and Games","e:\Apps\XBplayer\default.xbe"
{
(I just reused the XBplayer directory above for XBMC as i was being lazy that day)
