3 RROD? Not from flashing your dvd drive. Not from my experience anyways. Not to sound dumb but are you sure it's not 4 rings from having the a/v cable unplugged. I doubt it but I thought I would ask to eliminate it.

XBOX Halo Ed. = DuoX2 w/250gb HD
Xbox 360 Red Elite 120GB HDD = no-stealth 1.6 & XBReboot V3 & 1TB usb hdd
PS2 Slim = freemcboot v1.8 - PSP Black Slim = 5.00m33-6
Wii = w/ Blue XCM ii-case, Wiikey2 & softmodded

Naw it is not 4 rings, but i just thought it was coincidental that the 360 was working okay prior to the flash.. Thx for the reply, but i guess it's just my luck the thing would quit working after the flash!!

Have you had any luck resolving your issue?

I just flashed my Hitachi (0047) drive, and I am also getting the RROD. I flashed it, tested it... played for awhile, turned it off, came back an hour later, and the game froze maybe 5 minutes in. When I restarted, I got the RROD.

Any thoughts on what could be causing it? Heat? Could the drive speed affect it (I selected 8x when flashing)? Any other ideas?

I'm betting that you guys might have grabbed the heatsinks and pulled them away from the cpu just enough to further along the problems. If your M$ thermal paste was drying up and becoming useless then you pull on the heatsink even a little bit, since it's almost spring like, I think that is why it's 3RROD after you flash.
Just do the x-clamp replacement and you'll be set.

First things first copper, they should get the secondary error code and go from there.

Originally posted by Ultimate RROD Thread:
1. First turn on the system showing the RROD and wait until the lights start flashing.
2. Then press and hold the wireless sync button, and while this button is pressed down, also press the eject button.
3. Now the lights will change corresponding to the first of the 4 digits in the secondary code. (4 lights = 0, 1 light = 1, 2 lights = 3, 3 lights = 3)
4. Press eject button 3 more times and record each number until you have a 4 digit number, and this is your secondary error code.
Find your secondary error code and reply back, you can also check it on this link.

Thanks to you both for responding...

I did follow the RROD tutorial in the sticky, found my secondary error code (0102), and saw that the problem was with the heatsinks.

I tore apart the 360, and found that the previous owner (I picked this 360 up from GameStop used) had already fooled with the x-clamps. I took the heatsink off, reapplied some thermal paste, tightened down the screws... and VOILA! The 360 works again!

Thanks again for the help.
