Well the answer to your first question, yes there is many ways then to buy Microsoft's over priced Usb Wireless Adapter. Now to your second question, No unless, the adapter doesn't need drivers. The 360 cannot load drivers for the wireless adapter to function. So what do you do now you say? Well there's multiple ways you can get wireless for your 360.
1: If you have a laptop, with wireless, plug a wire from the 360 to the laptop, or it could be a desktop with a wireless card. So anyway pick your thing, then go to Network Options. Hold control and click your Lan connection and wireless connection. THen right click, bridge connections. Let it connect and waaaalah. Wireless internet.

****Note**** Some older wireless cards dont allowing bridging, unless you try to update the drivers for it.

2. There are things also that plug into your wall plug. You plug one into the plug by your 360 and one by your router. Then the plugs have ethernet ports, so plug a cord from the plug by your router into the router, and plug the cord from the plug by the 360 into the 360. Also waaalahh!! Kinda Wireless internet

Look here for details.

****NOTE**** If you have alot of wiring going all throughout your house, say like an old house, or maybe a house were your dad tried to wire it himself and didn't wire right, it could lag bad. But if your not too far from the router then you'll be ok.

3. You can buy wireless reievers. They pick up the signal, and then you just plug them into the 360. Lookup like wireless adapter for the Xbox. Dont look up for the 360, cuz the old xbox/ps2 ones will work for the 360.

4. IF none of these work, google it. Aparently you haven't because when I got my 1st 360 I googled it and I found tons of forums posting it. So use

I like the Netgear Wireless-N bridge set. You connect one to your router and one to your xbox and one other device, if you have one. If that's a bit too speedy and pricey (and you don't stream 1080p HD movies to a popcorn hour), then a wireless G bridge would probably be your best bet, as these are far less expensive than the microsoft branded USB adapter, and you don't need two of them.

I bought a linksys wireless bridge and it had worked great also. It was for G networks, and I think it was around 60 bucks.

Thanks for all your help but this is the option i would love to do.

I have a desktop connected to my pc (it is my media center pc) and it has a linksys wireless adapter usb card for the net. I tried the bridging connections and it bridge. But when I went to the 360 to connect to xbox live it failed. I did the xbox live troubleshooting and it says the connection is wired and the went to the next step and failed. Any ideas please
