I've read about doing this but doesnt really make sense. i need to get a chipset but i dont know which one. and this whole SATA stuff. I opened my computer and saw i have to sata slots open. by the way if it helps i got a HP m8200n with vista. I was reading the hacking of the xbox360 for dummies, I've downloaded some stuff but would rather have someone walk me throught this. I'm new to all of this. Please help

if you are not somewhat familer with a pc, you are better off having someone do it for you. you can fry your box, your hard drive in your pc, and many other things. Is it worth the risk to you. we could walk you trough it if you would like. but you will be sweating alot of bullets. several of us members flash the drive for a very reasonable price. i personally would do it for 40$ for you and you pay the shipping. I also know bhetrick flashes them, however i do not know his asking price. Get back to us as to how you want to approach this. If you are not willing to spend money the first thing you need to do is find out what kind of drive you have, which requires opening your xbox 360.

Damn wabashman is starting the GAS PRICE WAR
Anyway I totally agree with picking a senior member... but before you flash your drive make sure you know the consequences.
If you play on live you will get banned it's just a matter of time.
Many of us have 2 consoles so when the flashed one gets banned we have a backup.
I don't even go online with my flashed 360, i only go on live with the original fw console. Back when all this xbox modding started (early 2002) we used to use a audio cd or the xbox live tab to access the modded dash. So it's never really mattered to me.
Anyway just know what you're getting yourself into before you decide to flash your drive.

You can still go online.
What they are saying is that if you choose to go online with a modded 360 there is a chance that the modded console could be banned. No one knows what MS is looking for when they decide to do mass bans but most everyone is speculating that there will be something coming when the new dashboard comes in Nov.
So some people choose to play online with an unmodded console and offline with a modded one.
Hope that helps.
