O RLY?
YA RLY!
If your get PS3 gets semi-bricked, you can recover it. I guess this is Sony's quick fix for bricked PS3's instead of sending them in. NOTE: This is an OFFICIAL menu.
INSTURCTIONS:
1. Place PS3 in standby.
2. Hold down on the power button until you hear 3 beeps. It will shut down.
3. Restart it by holding down the power button. First, you will hear two beeps. Continue holding down on it until you hear a double beep. There you go.

Looks like sony has learned from some of the homebrew off of the psp.
Is a incomplete firmware brick a semi-brick or a full brick on the ps3?

Nice CK :D
BTW, how do you actually get a Semi-Brick?
EDIT: People have been saying that this doesn't work on the 40GB. TELL ME IT'S NOT TRUE!!!!! I can't try it right now ¬¬

I'm pretty sure it works on 40GB units as well. I looked around on the net and found several people that confirmed it works on 40GB PS3's. =)

Not sure. I guess if something gets messed up during a firmware install or something... (maybe??)
Kinda like when 2.4X was released and it was causing all those PS3 units to semi brick..

Oh.. This probably won't happen but could this fix YLOD? Or is YLOD just hardware failure?

I don't know how you would get 2.50 onto a unit that's YLOD'd, otherwise that'd be pretty cool!

That would be cool, although I don't wish that situation on anyone :)

If I do this, will I be able to just shut it off and turn it back on as usual, or will it save some sort of boot file? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I just want to see what the options are within the recovery menu :P
