Hey, hows it goin'? Ive downloaded CW_CHEAT and I dropped it into the "Games" folder, but when I go to open the game, it says "error, data is corrupted" or something along the lines of that. What does that mean and what do I have to do?

First, if you don't have a custom firmware PSP then it won't work at all.
Second, CW_Cheat isn't a game, it is a plugin for custom firmware. Follow the readme instructions that came with it and you'll learn where to put the files. (Copy the seplugins folder from the INSTALL folder into the root of your memory stick.) Then, as the README says:
2-power up your psp while pressing R
3-Select plugins
4-Press X over cwcheatpops.prx [POPS] it will say ENABLED
5-Press X over cwcheat.prx [GAME] it will say ENABLED
6-Press X over cwcheat.prx [GAME150] it will say ENABLED
7-exit recovery
8-when in game hold select for x3 seconds to access the menu.

I know that I have to have a custom firmware, but where would I get it and which would you prefer? Also, when I turn my psp on while holding R, it doesnt do anything. It just loads up like normal.

What do I do:
I turn my psp off, then turn it back on holding "R", but it does nothing. It doesnt go into Recovery mode. Is something wrong or do I need to do something first?

Another thing,
before I upgrade to the 4.01 M33, so I need to downgrade? If so, where would I go to get the downgrade and how do I downgrade? Is it the same as upgrading?

what custom firmware do you have now? you probably dont need to downgrade if your on 3.80 m33 or higher but the fact that you can't get into the recovery menu makes me think you dont actually have a custom firmware so if thats the case yea you may need to downgrade before you can mod and upgrade to a newer firmware

do you have a pandora battery and magic memory stick or you just downloading the updates and homebrew without modding the psp because they wont start unless the firmware is already made custom to load homebrew apps.
