hi i currently own a ps3 and think that its a good system but i dont think that it is excellent. Online especially. Will anyone here tell me any points that they think are good about 360. Do you think that its worth getting a 360 now when they have been out for so long. The ps3 has a lifespan of 10 years does anyone know about 360 ?

Many people like breakfast in bed so i say why not just sleep in the kitchen :-)

just having the xbox live service is worth having a 360.

I feel a flame war coming on. I will try to stop it now, everybody has their own opinions about the consoles. SO do some research and figure out which one is best to your purposes.

If you want something that will last 10 years, don't get a 360. Did the PS2 last 10 years? I know the XB1 didn't. Until the new Jaspers chips are proven (and they aren't even out yet), you could probably expect 2-3 years of moderate to heavy gaming with the 360 with free exchanges from Microsoft for 5 years unless your DVD goes out <g>.
If online is your priority, then get a 360. Just remember you will have to pay for all of those games you already have for your PS3 all over again for a new platform, but if online is that important to you, go for it.

Simple Heck ya it's worth getting.Online is Great there is ton's of Games Plus it's been out long enough now that the price is cheap.It is everyone's loss who doesn't own one.I myself am getting a ps3 just for a few games that is'nt on the xbox.

Ill say this much for PS#, its an awsome piece of hardware, but about 2 years ahead of its time, Blue ray is GREAT, but online sux.
360 is just simple ER, online outstanding, and the library is huge. I would wager devs find it simpler to make 360 games then PS3. PS3 does BLOW 360 out of the water when it comes to audio and maybe the enormous settings, but im more worrie don games, not movies. I do have both consoles, and it seems PS3 lost its steam, I was hugely disapointed with socom, and Metal gear was OK with AWSOME graphics.
If they both come together, MS for software and PS for hardware, then that would be a site to see.

Reason the xbox1 didn't last t10 years is because the cost of the hard drive was killing MS. They have come out publically and stated that. When they were able to release the 360, they did it as soon as possible.
That being said, the 360 is the way to go. I have both, and I am on my ps3 almost only for a bluray player, and almost never games. The games and multiplayer is just unsurpassed on the 360 compared to the ps3 IMO. I would highly recommend it.
Also, It has been said (on multiple blog posts) that the next estimated MS console will be between 2010-2011. So sometime around there, maybe add on an extra year. Still, I would be all about the 360.

I'll add my $.02.
I just got a PS3 a couple weeks ago. It an 80 gig with an Aug. 08 mfg. date. I actually paid $0 for it and got back $100. I eBayed all the games, the BR movies, the remote, and 2 of the 4 controllers. So I made out like a bandit. I basically got paid $100 to take it off someones hands.
The PS3 is really quiet. It definately has the 360 beat in quality. But I really have no care for PSN. It is slow. But it's free, so one really can't complain. I rented CoD4 for a week but returned it after 2 days. I tried on may different time of day, and it just stunk compared to LIVE.
I'm looking forward to Killzone 2, if it ever gets released. The gameplay looks really good.
If you're thinking about getting a 360, get a new one. With the price drop and the release of the new mobo, you really can't go wrong.
And another plus. Instead of buying a new 60 gig Premium for $299, you could just buy the Arcade for $199 and then take advantage of the 20 gig hard drive and 3 months LIVE for $30 that MS has going on. That is if money is an issue and you don't mind the smaller hdd.

I would just like to point out i dont own a HD tv so i think its time i went to buy myself an xbox.

I find your logic a little weird here. First off, I want to say again, that I fully think the 360 is better, but just because you don't have a HDTV doesn't mean that you shouldn't get a PS3. You can still play it in standard def, just like how you can play a 360 in HD.
I would also argue that the 360 is the better system for gaming not only because of live, but also because of the games (but that's a whole different can of worms).

Honestly, it sounds like you were just looking for an excuse to get a 360. If you want one, get one. Why try to get validation from others? There are arguments and civil discussions alike as to the good and bad points of all the consoles. No console is perfect, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with having them all.
my opinion. I hate the way Live nickle and dimes you out of money. The game selection is nice, and even if you hate Microsoft you can stick it to them and only pay for the console (you know who you people are). The ps3 is a beastly machine that hasn't reached its climax yet, while the 360 has. And eventually sony will give in and PAY for exclusives (FFXIII was a MAJOR injury) So for immediate gaming, I think 360 wins. For long term, with ever improving graphics, I vote ps3. one night stand vs Long term relationship lol Do you want to get your cheap thrills and possibly an STD from the 360 (RROD, Banned, Purchases that ad up, dead drive, buying a new console when you have to send yours in for repair) Or would you have a relationship with a beautiful woman who nags at you and tells you you're not good enough and that she should have married her last boyfriend, but still gives you sex lol(Sony's new TOS, poor online services, limited exclusives, unwillingness to adapt.)As you can tell, I see two completely different major problems for each console. The xbox 360 has had nothing but hardware limitations. The playstation 3 has had very little to no hardware problems, but massive software problems. Imagine what a wonderful bastard child they could have. Sony COULD vastly improve PSN, but they don't seem to motivated. Microsoft COULD have made the 360 more powerful and waited to make sure everything was properly designed, but there ego was just to damn big. (of course, they're still working on getting the 360 as stable as possible with each new chipset)

Oh and you know how you said the 3
60 has a large collection of games, do you know of any major titles this year. I knew halo was meant to be big and was....gears of war 2 I think as well is coming out.

GOW2 is already out, and it IS more then everything it had hoped to be. Fall out 3, fable 2, saints row 2, Need I go on, Heck even NBA LIVE is better then NBA 2k this year. PS3, I own it, and its just a blue ray player, my 360 gets massivegaming miles. PS 3, its lost IMO , but there willl always be ps4 in what 2015?

You should ask your question in the ps3 forum too just to see what the response is over there.
As for my 2 cents.
I own both systems.
I've only played through 2 games on my PS3 and I only own 4 total.
All my gaming time is spent on my 360.
Why?
Because of the games and because it's been hacked.
Live is cool but like it was pointed out they nickel and dime the hell out of you.
When the ps3 gets hacked then it will probably see some more love from me.
Also my gf hates MS with a passion and swore up and down she would never play on the 360. I got her started with Dead Rising and she hasn't even looked at the ps3 except to try and finish DMC2.

i sometimes wonder if the ps3 is a better console. i hear a lot about the rrod but i dont hear anything bad about the ps3 i thing the 360 has the ps3 in the # of games. so if like to play alot of games xbox is the way to go + thier online services is better but you have to pay to play.

You dont hear about the ps3 casue theres nothign GOOD to realy say. Theres no games, internet sux. And well yeah rrod is bad for 360, but that just means MORE people are compliaining becuase MROE people have a 360. To those who DONT mod, rrod is nto a big issue, for US who have a modded console it is an issue, but These new mobo have really limited the issue, and adding a laptop cooler and keeping the 360 well ventilated is a huge diff. If u smoke alot, then comon sense clean your 360 with an air blower, by budy cleans his out monthly, and man that thing acumulates alot of gunk.

I own both but i tell you what, my launch day PS3 is still going strong.. On the other hand, i've gone through around four 360's during the same span since the PS3 launch date... I've done the rrod fix on all of them myself... I do own both but i have to sweat everytime i fire up my 360 as opposed to my PS3..

tavek right keeping well ventilated makes a hugh diff you really cant keep it in a entertainment center our inclosed area like that it traps to much heat plus dust you have to clean it out once in a while. i had one freeze on me you could only play for two mins and it froze i clean it out man it had so much dust in it then it work fine after that.funny :)

You can't play back-ups on a PS3. Even if you could, BluRay discs are expensive as hell.
When the new xbox comes out, do you think you'll still want your PS3? It would depend on what the new xbox was capable of. If it just matched the PS3, you havent lost out by buyin a 'station. But no one knows what the new xbox will do, so how do you make that decision? You can't, so that's a risk factor you can't manage.
PS3 online is crap, but xbox charges you for theirs. Some think it's worth the cash, do you?
Both consoles have exclusives. Which ones do you want?
RRoD shouldn't be a factor anymore because of the new mobo. Most people are saying that the new 360s will be as reliable as PS3s.
You don't have a HDTV so BluRay movies don't concern you.
HDD size is irrelevant cause they're pretty even on that front.
Who's gonna come out with new cool sh*t? PS3, 360 or both? What will they be? What do you want?
In the end there's a lot to consider. Take your time, do your research, remember what *you* want out of a console and not what nerds on forums think.

Two problems with the PS3 that I've noticed.
First is that I'm reading more and more about the BR drives going bad. Doesn't matter what site or forums you go to. There's a lot of posts about it in all of them.
Second is the number of firmware updates and the crashes which follow. After EVERY update, people have reported problems. Games not loading, freezing, video playback problems, etc.
I'm not trying to talk down the PS3.
But, in one hand, you have one console which has one major flaw (which may have been solved with the latest version), and in the other, you have a console which has a lot of little flaws.

i would say that the xbox 360 has much better online and games that are only on xbox 360 (halo3 GOW 2 etc.) the xbox beats the PS3 in games everytime, i would buy an xbox 360 plus the ps3 too much money for what its worth, xbox elite is better than ps3 and its cheaper
hell with blue ray
in other words
get xbox for games
get ps3 for movies
xbox all the way!

I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. Even though they have the better chips for the CPU and GPU, they still are using the same lead free solder. If they wouldn't have in the first place, they would have never had the RROD problem. Just because they are running cooler does not mean the 360 still won't heat up enough for this to happen. Plus its not just the CPU and GPU that are having this problem, the e74 error is caused by the HANA/ANA chip, which gets the same problem as the CPU/GPU.
Since having this happen to myself i've been asking other people that own 360's, only know of one person that is on his original (launch console too), and his drive just died last week. When i dropped my xbox off at ups the lady said she gets about 5 a day and knew exactly what it was.
Now I'm not saying don't get the 360, despite all of these problems i would still buy one (especially if your not planning to mod). It is a huge inconvenience sending it in for repairs, but they will keep extending your warranty, and at least have admitted there is a problem and are doing something about it (kind of).
