I just wanted to run this by those who no doubt know more about this than I do...

My source files when authoring DVDs are almost always relatively low resolution (e.g. 320x240) WMV or ASF files. I use DVD Author 3 as my DVD authoring tool. I definitely see some quality loss in the form of pixelization on the final DVD output. I suspect this is primarily due to the fact that the smaller resolution has to be upscaled to the higher DVD output resolution, which in turn magnifies any pixelization seen in the source files. Is this, generally speakinig, accurate?

Thanks, I thought so. It's really evident right after some scene transitions where I see what might be described as a "snowflake" effect, where parts of the new scene pixealate badly until the new scene settles in, usually after a couple seconds. Not all scene transitions though this issue though, just some. But when I view the source file, the issue is there as well, just not so obvious due to the lower resolution.
