NeroVision replacement - please recommend one!

Hi.
For a long while now, I've been using NeroVision Express 3 to edit commercials out of my TV recordings.
I like it because the quality loss is not noticeable.
(I tried editing one of my recordings in Sony Vegas, and one can clearly notice the loss of quality. So, Vegas is not a good solution for me.)
But, there are many, many problems with NVE. For starters, only version 3 can show the accurate frame count during the editing process, which is why I can't use a newer version. Sometimes, it will refuse to insert a file, for no good reason. Other times, it will show an odd debug pop-up while inserting a file, and I must use the Task Manager to end the program. Many times, the burning process is aborted, for no apparent logical reason. (And I can add several other reasons, but what's the point? I'm just sick of Nero's crappy editor.)
Please, can somebody suggest a good editing program, that can cut out almost every frame, and that can import and export in VOB format? It's okay if it can use other files, too, like .mpg and .avi, but it must be able to work only with .VOB files, as well.
(That is why TMPGEnc Xpress is not the perfect solution, either. I've tried it, and it's the perfect program for editing .avi files, for instance, but it can't help with my .VOB editing.)
Thank you in advance to the great man who can suggest a program that can replace NeroVision Express 3 for me, successfully.

Wrong program for DVD. Try TMPGEnc DVD Author 3. I use it daily for all my DVD authoring projects. Easy and excellent results, but not cheap. I'm obviously hooked on this app because I mention it often in various forum posts.

avidemux ... frame by frame edit capabilities.. join/split/splice etc. vobs are crap.. just a wrapper around mpeg2 files to make life difficult. want to know why?
Heres what I do with them... Rename them .mpg and then chop/join and edit my collection of titles/episodes or whatever to get them how I want them... then I slam them through a plain dvd authoring app like dvdauthor to make a new disk structure. It doesn't take long because you aren't transcoding anything.
Awesome what you can do with no money and some freeware... If you want to try getting really clever.. dvdstyler can do multi layer animated menus... when you get the hang of it.
Saves so much messing around it's unbelievable.
Hi Pesh.. It's strange to see a big fan of tempgenc dvd author.. I tried it once on a project and found it to be typical payware.. packed full of pointless and unused functions and complicated as hell to get a simple project done in minutes.. Suffice to say.. it didn't stay on the machine. It was replaced with dvd flick which if anything is too simple to use.

Hi varnull. How's it goin'? I switched to TMPGEenc DVD Author awhile back when I got disgusted with ConvertXtoDVD for .avi files. Too much dinking around with confusing settings and mediocre results in my book. I quickly mastered TMPGEenc DVD Author and now my projects seem to take only minutes also. I have DVD Flick on my machine also and have used it many times in the past and also find it quick and easy. I guess I just like the way TMPGEenc DVD Author works and couldn't be happier with the quality of the results.

I will try TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 first, since Pegasys did such a great job with Xpress.
The official page does say "Cut-Edit", so it looks like what I need. But I'm really worried about the System Requirements: 4.2 GHz Processor needed?!? Isn't that kind of extreme?
But I'll try it, nevertheless. I really hope it works.

I had to go back and read the System Requirements again. I believe that's suppose to read: a Pentium 4 with a minimum 2 GHz. I don't know anybody with 4.2 GHz. I certainly don't. Mine's only 2.4 GHz. Maybe they have it backwards.

That's why I like avidemux for editing.. anything over a p3 450 will do nicely ;)

Like I said, mine is a wimpy Intel Celeron 2.4 and easily handles everything.

I think you're right, Peshtigo. "Pentium 4 with 2 GHz" would be more appropriate.
Well, I tried TMPGEnc DVD Author, and it certainly is what I wanted. Thank you so much! (I'm going to buy it for sure.)
It complained a little before accepting the .VOB file, but I didn't even have to rename it to .mpg. And the editing is great, just like TMPGEnc Xpress. Plus, burning the process to HDD takes just minutes, like NVE.

I might try avidemux, too - thank you very much, Varnull - but TMPGEnc does the job.

I use VideoReDo TvSuite to edit commercials out of Tv programs. I really like the program.
I also have Womble Video Wizard DVD and I haven't quite gotten the 'hang' of it yet . . but it certainly has a ton of features . . .

Sorry for the late reply.
I did try before buying. In my opinion, TMPGEnc DVD Author is worth it.
I also tried avidemux. However, and perhaps it is the fault of my PC, I don't know, the end results of avidemux editing have very choppy flow, especially when there are sudden movements on-screen. (Am I doing something wrong?)
I like the fact that it can supposedly add subtitles to a file (and there are so many cool features in avidemux), but if the picture quality suffers...
DVDFlick does not edit the input files.
Oh, and I'm definitely going to try DVDStyler. Any particular version you recommend?
