I have 4.01m33 cfw and was wondering if there was a umd emulator or ps1 emulator for this version or would I have to downgrade to 3.71m33 to play irshell and if I have to downgrade how would i do this. Im using a slim psp that came with 3.95 already installed on it.

dont need a iso or psx emulator as they are built into the firmware

just put any iso into the iso folder in the root of the memory stick and then go to game on the psp and it should be there

as for psx all you need to do is ether rip the games to iso and then convert them to the psp eboot format with autopopstation or something like that. or convert them from iso to eboot or if you have the eboot psx games just put them into the game401 folder in a named folder for example have a folder called metal gear solid and the game metal gear solid in eboot format

hope that helps

A pretty good bet on those games freezing is due to the fact you're not using popsloader in conjunction with them.

I was just recently having this problem with Xenogears on 4.01 M33 only to find out that it needs to be run on the 3.71 pops.

After doing extensive homework on the topic and understanding it as intimately as possible, here's my explanation to you:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Popsloader loads the POPS from previous versions of the firmware.

Here's a list of PSX games and their compatibilities:
http://www.gamerspress.com/index.php?tit...tibility_List#X
Outstanding list ^^

Now all you need to do is get the POPSLOADER for your version of firmware (would suggest just updating to the most current 5.00 M33-3) and install it from there. Please note that if you do upgrade to 5.00 M33-3 that the 5.00 M33-2 POPSLOADER is what you use. That's my current config.

Here's the current popsloader:
***Please note that this will NOT work on 5.00 M33-1 but DOES work on M33-2 and M33-3!!!***
http://dl.qj.net/Popsloader-for-5.00-M33...24491/catid/151

Here's all the pops from version 3.3 through 4.01 compliments of ShaggyZE. Thx again for the link Shag.
http://www.realz2reelz.com/SEPLUGINS.rar

To install this unzip SEPLUGINS.RAR. You should now have a folder called SEPLUGINS. Now unzip the new version of popsloader. You'll have a file and folder called popsloader. Copy those into the folder SEPLUGINS. If prompted to overwrite, do so.

Now hook your PSP up to you PC and copy SEPLUGINS into your root. To get to the root, open up "My Computer" and double click on your psp's removable drive. If you see folders like ISO and PSP you're in the right spot. This is where your SEPLUGINS folder goes.

Now disconnect your psp and go to "game" in your xmb menu and down to your memory stick like you normally would to start up a PSP game.

Find the PSP game you want to play, HOLD DOWN THE R TRIGGER, and then while holding that down start the game. You should get a black screen with a list of all the pops. Select the pops that you want and your game should play fine :)

Hope that helps man.

Props go out to Dark_Alex and ShaggyZE for the above files!!

the structure of the SEPLUGINS.rar has changed since yesterday it now includes 3.00,3.01,3.02,3.03,3.10,3.11,3.30,3.40,3.50,3.51,3.52,3.70,3.71,3.72,3.80,3.90 and 4.01 firmwares and has 3 15Mb rars inside for scene release and torrent purposes but for anyone firmiliar with these kind of releases it shouldnt be too hard to extract the files and then copy them to the seplugins on your memorystick.

Note: that these have been decrypted from the official sony firmwares and may be against afterdawns TOS so if thats the case a moderator should delete all references to the link posted above and everyone can find it in the "usual places".

Being the files are extracted from sony released updates that are readily available and from legal sources these files shouldn't be an issue.

Well I got it working finally (my computer was on too long had to shut it off, it halted anything I was doing before) but yu-gi-oh forbidden memories won't work and I saw on this compatibilty site that it should be working. Is there someway I can get working. Also is there a way to play n64 or saturn games on 4.01m33. I've heard that daedulus doesn't work but what about saturn.

P.s sorry about all the posts i'm new to psp homebrew.

Yugiioh forbidden memories IS on the list however it doesn't have a set "known good" or "known bad" pops version.

When you go to your memstick to select the game, hold down the R trigger on top when selecting the game. Keep it held till your pops menu opens up and then select something different. Try 3.71 or 3.3 or whatever. It might work, it might not. It's all about experimenting. You could take this opportunity to test it out and contribute to the compatibility wiki :)

As for N64 emulation, it's pretty limited. daedulus is the best one out there that I've found and unfortunately it's limited to playing mario 64 and a couple other games.

The really bad ass games like Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Legend of Zelda, etc... aren't able to play on this yet. But it is still being worked on. Be patient and hopefully something great will come.

I'll check that yu-gi-oh game out when i get a chance and see if i can find a POPS that it'll play on.

As for madden nfl 09.....that's a psp game, not a psx game.
It should be in either .iso, .cso, .dax, or .jso format and should be placed directly into the:
ms0:/Iso/ folder.
ms0 = memory stick 0 and is the drive letter of your memory stick being not everyone's memory stick drive letter is the same.
Put it in there and you should be fine.

Pretty sure this was mentioned earlier by Dr1ver.

Note that IF for some reason that doesn't work, then there's a good chance you have a corrupt copy of the game and should try to find another one. Let me know.

Cheers.

Only thing that's coming to mind is try hitting select when you're at the XMB to bring up your vsh menu and going down to where it says UMD ISO Mode. I'd try normal or Sony NP9660.
Alternately you can power the unit down (not sleep it) by holding the power button in the up position till it completely shuts off then holding down your R trigger and, while continuing to hold that trigger, turning the power on. This will get you into the recovery menu.
Go to configuration and there you'll find UMD Mode.

I'm sketchy on this one b/c I don't think I've had one of my UMD's in my PSP since I modded it lol. I guess I just love the old school a little too much. :P

Try those out, let me know.

If worse came to worst you could actually download a new copy of the game and use that instead. If I remember right you're allowed ONE backup copy of a game assuming you own the original. However I'd use this as your last resort.

Cheers king_mad.

is the UMD damaged in anyway, some of mine are cracked so the plastic lid stop it from spinning correctly so i kinda have to adjust it to get it to spin but i should just buy some replacement shells for them, but i only use them for mounting UMD movies anyway.

I think it may be just dirty (I had lost it when I found it it was under some paper) but how would I open up the white casing and clean it.

You don't need to open it necessarily.
I'd use some alcohol and q-tips and just clean it through the open area. When that section is clean then using your finger to push gently in the middle of the UMD and rotate it. Keep cleaning it in sections like that.

Alternately you can use glass cleaner. Big thing with using these 2 over water or something else is the alcohol = quick evaporation.
