Hi everyone

I'm new to the forum and hoping to get some help.

First off let's get my system specifics as well as software and hardware listed so everyone knows what I am working with:

PC - Dell Inspiron I6400 Laptop w/Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 @1.66GHz & 1GB RAM

DVD Drive - Optiarc DVD+- RW AD-5540A (supports dual layer burning, from what I've read http://www.cdfreaks.com/hardware/product...-AD-5540A.html)

Ripping Software - DVD Shrink 3.2

DVD Burning Software - Nero Burning Rom v7.7.5.1 Portable

Home Theater DVD Player - OPPO DV-981HD

Blank DVD Media - Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL

Now here is the issue. I recently tried to copy American Gangster, which in uncompressed form is around 7.5 GB. I did the same process that I usually do (to save space, I more or less follow these steps closely - http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/...vd_shrink.cfm). This process works great when I burned single layer Memorex 16X DVD-R's, as I can play them on nearly every DVD player that I try. However, when I did the same process except this time not compressing anything and going for the full 100% backup, I burned the DVD at the slowest speed (2.4x) and encountered the following issues:

- no sound on the feature film when playing the DVD in the OPPO
- sound on the DVD menu when playing the DVD in the OPPO (I thought this was very odd)
- sound on both the menu AND feature film when playing the DVD on my computer

Does anyone know why this could be happening and what, if anything, could be done to rectify the problem?

Thanks in advance.

You sould not use Nero to burn DVD/DL. You should get ImgBurn to do that.

Well the first thing to check would be the audio... what is it? It needs to be AC3 or LPCM to play on a normal player.

Open one of the VOBs in GSpot and look under audio. You want to see AC3 and 48000Hz + how many channels you have.

AC3 was the audio codec according to GSpot. I'm going to try burning the compilation again with ImgBurn and see if that works.

Thanks so far guys.
