Has anyone came across this problem before if so your help will be grateful. when i start internet explorer to browse the web it keeps saying INTERNET EXPLORER CAN NOT DISPLAY THIS PAGE when i check to see if there is a connection present to the internet there is and AOL have said that it is a problem with INTERNET EXPLORER and i should contact Microsoft, but i have also tried another computer with runs windows vista and the same problem with that machine too
It doesn't matter if port 80 or 8080 is open on the router; only the web server needs to have port 80 open. Browsers will use any random TCP ports to connect to the web server. Besides, there already "is a connection present to the internet", so we can assume that nothing is blocked.
Hey klunk
Try downloading Advanced Windowscare Personal and installing it. Update it, run a scan, and fix everything except Startup Manage. Reboot, and see if your problem is still there.
If this doesn't work, please download the HijackThis zip file. Save it onto a convenient place in your computer, and then unzip the file.
Rename HijackThis(.exe) to scanner(.exe).
Next, run scanner(.exe). A window will pop up.
? Click on the button which says Main Menu, then Do a system scan and save a logfile.
? Please wait for the scan to be completed.
? After the scan has completed, a text window will pop up. Please post the contents of this window here.
This will also be located at hijackthis(.txt) in the same folder that HijackThis was originally saved.
NOTE:: Do not fix anything using HijackThis, as this may also damage legitimate components of your computer.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kickboxing. To be or not to be; thats a dumb question.
