Hey guys! I've been playing GH4WT (Guitar Hero 4 World Tour) for about 3 days now. There is a part where you must have enough cash to play onstage with Tool! I finally got enough cash, but when I try to play it, The loading page just keeps looping, and there is no progress (crash). So, I want to know if anyone else has had this problem. I REALLY want to play these songs, it's a whole set (Tool-set, get it?).

Okay, mine works this way -

Free Memory card Boot OR MC Exploit
HDLoader 8c, also on HDLoader 8b

I am running this off my 80Gb hard drive that I've been using for a long time now. My drive is good. The game works flawlessly up to this point. Sure, I could play some other sets, but that's not the point. This is supposed to be a dual layer game. I tranferred it to my HD with HDLDumb. Took 3 hours, but my old switch is slow. I don't have a DL burner, so I'm not gonna go the Disc way, although I'll be interested if anyone is having the same trouble with ESR!

I think it may be a problem with the game looking for layer 2. The copy I got was only an ISO, and when I look at it with Apache 2 or ISOBuster, but I can't tell if there's a second layer. I'm still a little new to dual layer games. The overall size of my ISO is 7.94Gb.

Any help will be appreciated, and credited!

Many thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Okay, I just tried Toxic's Dual-Layer patcher. No help. Still hangs in the same spot. I also can't get into the House of Blues in Los Angeles second part. Same problem. Am I really the only person? Help please!

Cheers!

robotz - so nice to hear from you. You should - get it.

Anyways, I am trying the DVD5 version on my HD. That is, I am trying the DVD5 Ripkit out rather than rip it again. I will post here, as well as on Civic's forum on psx-scene.com, if I have any success. Some good work came from that guy, Civicscooter. If you're a PS2 hacker, you'll get it.

Cheers!

YYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

It works!! It WORKS!! It really, really works!!

Okay, the DVD5 ripkit worked for me, better (and more informative) than just D/L'ing the DVD5. My DVD5 works as a single DVD under ESR (burned with Alcohol 120%), and in HDLoader 0.8c, NO MODES ENABLED! Loads twice as fast as the ESR disc. I thought for sure Tool was gonna hang, on the disc, but it took about 2 full minutes to load. Takes 20 seconds with HDLoader.

BTW, I used Apache 3 for ripping, seems to work for me!

I'm so happy!

Thank you so much, Scooter!

Now, I have a new question.

I do not have any sort of microphone for my PS2, except my old SOCOM headset. It actually WORKS with Rockband, but not so much with GHWT. Any one else try this? Being able to sing AND shred on the guitar is Awesome! Maybe it's time to get a mic and a stand.

Thanks again, Scooter!

Thanks again to the AfterDawn community for all the help!

For some real information on this, I found my answers here:

It's been a long time since i saw this thread, thought it was deleted.

LauraAnne - Please make an account and ask your question here -

http://psx-scene.com/forums/ps2-game-bac...tour-civic.html

Scooter and his buds have been over every inch of this game. If anyone knows, they do. They also have direct links to the ripkit.

I found Pal to NTSC apps here: http://www.sksapps.com/index.php?page=mis.html

I have used NTSC converter successfully, but you may have to Google for instructions.

On another note, I successfully got both the DVD5 as well as the DVD9 version to run on HDLoader! Having ALL the stages available is really cool!

Any further questions on This topic should be directed to here:

You could just enable Mode 1 and Mode 3 in WinHip and the DVD9 will work great on a HD.

Peace,

Trav357 -

Congratulations on a successful rip for GHWT. I have tried and made about 10 coasters. I am pretty new at this. Is there any way you would post a step by step guide to exactly what you did to make it work and which programs you used for each step?

I am familiar with IMG burn, alcohol120%, isobuster, nero burning rom. Some of the others you mention I am not. I looked on scooter's page but it is a little (or a lot) over my head. I need a do this and do that type of thing. Any help or guidance you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Also, does anyone know if "game copy pro" copy software works? In their ad they seem to be saying it will copy any game.

Survey says - NO! Do NOT use Game Copy Pro!

It's just PS2!

Rip with DVD Decrypter - Google is your friend.

Burn with Imgburn at 4X speed, or use Alcohol 120%!

spike8, I don't usually write guides, as there is no shortage of fine people who already do this. Below is Psychspacefish's brief instructions from the DVD5 ripkit:

------------------------------------------------
Guitar Hero: World Tour NTSC-U DVD9 -> DVD5 ripkit
------------------------------------------------
By Psychospacefish

Media: DVD-5 (4.36GB)
Complete Ripping information:
All but 3 Stages were ripped, rest are relinked
In songs 33075HZ stereo ADPCM was downsampled to 27000Hz stereo ADPCM, and 16538HZ mono ADPCM was downsampled to 13500Hz mono ADPCM

WARNING: Do not change any part of this kit, or else the game will crash.

1.Extract from an ISO image all the files from both layers with Apache 2 or 3 into the same folder as the ripkit (you can delete the ISO after this)
2.Run ghwtrip.bat
4.At the end IML2ISO will pop up, select ghwt.iml and click start.
5.Burn the ISO at 4X with DVD Decrypter.

Big thanks to gnie for his Xpert2 tool, and DVDIML2ISO. Thanks to neness for Kit Magician. Thanks to GameZelda of scorehero.com for HEDTools. Thanks to muzzleflash for MFAudio.

I patched the image with ESR before burning. You must have the ESR exploit set up on your PS2!

All kinds of kick ass apps for PS2 enthusiasts can be found at SKSApps.com.

Alternatively, if you have a dual layer burner, and good quality dual layer blank discs, you can rip the whole game, both layers, into one ISO. Patch with ESR AND the TOXIC dual layer patcher, and burn at 4X with the dual layer burning software of your choice.

Alternatively, you could learn2exploit. The ps2 Free Memory Card Boot is covered extensively on the interwebs. I got my DVD9 rip to work by installing it to my 80Gb Seagate IDE hard drive connected directly to my PC. I used Winhiip to transfer it. Works great! Both layers!

Scooter is really the man to ask about this stuff. You should search ALL the pages of the forum before asking. All the information is in there!

GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND.

Try search terms like ps2 exploit, or fmcb ps2, or winhiip.
Try a simple phrase like "How to exploit ps2".

By the way, my PS2 is NOT chipped, modchips are for suckers, IMAO.

Sorry if I come off sounding rough, but I get this a lot.

Cheers!

If anybody's got a gamesave with all songs or atleast many songs unlocked could you upload it for me in any format please? I have a PS2 with ESR so I'll be able to upload it to my memory card with no problems. Thanks and sorry for "stealing" the thread.

Hey there, lsn2this. If you are using swap magic, you only need to patch the image with the Toxic dual layer patcher, then burn with Imgburn at a LOW speed (I use 4X). The d/l patcher can be found at SKS Apps. Hope this helps.

Trav357,
Like i said im not a newbie at all just with the dual layer discs so you got me a lil confused, the GHWT .iso is 7.94GB.
I patched it with the toxic dual layer patcher, but its still 7.94GB.
How am i supposed to just patch and burn when its way bigger then the 4.7GB discs we all use?
or does it stop in the middle and ask to insert a second disc????

ImgBurn knows when to layer break to the second layer. You may have to poke around in the settings to make sure it sees a DL disc in the burner (you ARE using dual layer media, right?). But ImgBurn is usually no problem. I would suggest also checking out Scooter's page, linked earlier in this thread. You can't be the only one with this issue. The alternatives are to try to create or download the DVD5 format, or use a hard drive in your PS2 (that's what I do).

Cheers!

thanks trav357,
So if i have the .iso of say 7.96GB, and i dont have DL burner drive, should i still use a DL disc and imgburn? Will that work or should i only use a DL disc only if i have a DL drive also?
Also can i use 2 single layer discs with imgburn and will it create a layer break?
Im usually better then this i promise lol, just gets a lil confusing when two layers come into play. thanks a lot for all your help Trav357!!
If all else fails i will have to come upon a dvd5 .iso right?

lsn2this, you MUST have a dual layer burner to burn a dual layer disc. If not, why not? They are cheap, like 30 or 40 bucks (Canadian!). No, you CANNOT run a dual layer game on 2 separate discs, it will never work. The DVD5 version works pretty good, but the lack of different stages and lighting gets a bit boring after awhile.

Are you saying that it IS possible to backup a DVD9, say Guitar Hero World Tour, using the Toxic Patch, then burning it on a DL disc and using SwapMagic 3.6?

I've tried several times with DL media and I keep getting coasters.

It's supposed to work. I don't do it, because using a hard drive is superior to opening the DVD tray with a slide tool.

1. Rip with DVD Decrypter.
2. Burn with ImgBurn or Alcohol 120% at 4X speed or slower.
3. ???????????
4. PROFIT!

Cheers!
