I'm not a total newb to this but I do tend to use the auto updaters for ease. I've been trying to update a Japanese PSP-1000 TA-082 from M33 3.80-5 to M33 4.01. I've tried 3.90 as well

I get the drnffffffbo error. I searched this and other forums and the suggestion seemed to be Chilly Willys key cleaner. Did this and unpatched and patched key 5 with the same result.

However the key cleaner reports a duplicate key which I supect may be the problem. I can't work out how to fix this. Suggestions?

try downloading the firmware manually and upgrade http://alek.dark-alex.org/filez/dax/ just download the firmware you want from there, extract the rar and put the UPDATE folder in /PSP/GAME/ then run it, if the update doesnt download 5.00.pbp try here 500.pbp US Firmware or 500.pbp JAP Firmware just rename it to 500.pbp and put in in /PSP/UPDATE/ and if you dont have 78% battery life you can hold L Trigger + Triangle to bypass battery check.
