CDRW media life cycle

I have a number of ASUS CDRW drives installed from 16x to 52x.

I have been recommending Verbatim for CDRW back-up media.

The Advantrix Backups program in use at most locations calls InCD to do the burning with overwrite as the preferred option.

My users are finding the disks are failing before we get to 50 writes, a long way from the theoretical 1000.

Has anyone seen any tests on the performance of various media for frequency of overwrites until failure?

Is there a standout brand I can recommend for data backup?
