How do you edit a .cda file?

Ok this is going to sound stupid but its the truth..I asked my friend to burn me a program onto a cd...Now he has given me the cd and for some idiotic reason hes made it an audio file, and the file i want is now in a .cda file..And as well all know you just cant copy a .cda file to the hard drive and edit the file to whatever, cause when you copy it only says the file is 44kb (not the real size of 440mb)....

So i was wondering if anyone can give me some ideas on how to get the full .cda file onto my hard drive...

oh ive already tried ripping it with a .wav ripper
