Hi, Been a lurker for several weeks now, so this is my first post.
I have been using dvd shrink on Xp wihtout fail. Can't seem to back up this new movie with Brendon Frasier. Shrink freezes on analysis (about 23% ). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

Try DVDFab HD Decrypter.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

If you've been "lurking for several weeks now", you must surely have read a mountain of posts concernimg exactly how to backuo a DVD. What specifically seems to have tripped you up on this one?

As brother Dialysis suggested, use dvdfab HD decrypter to rip your movies. Dvd shrink is no longer being updated (hasn't been in over 4yrs) and can't handle tougher encryptions.

After ripping with dvdfab, you can use dvd shrink to compress the files and use imgburn to burn your disks.

The advice that has been given here is right on.

Use DvdFab which comes with a free trial period of Gold/Platinum. Then the free version if you don't purchase.

Might want to take a read of the two links in my sig as they outline all the best options and programs, with links and guides.

as the three other posters have said dvd shrink can't handel some of the newer titles by it's self, anydvd and dvdregion plus css free are two other programs that will help dvd shrink, good luck and welcome to afterdawn

What's with all the blank space in the post? It adds nothing to it.

What's tripping bryston up - well from their post I would gather it's that Shrink can't finish the analysis. That pretty much sums it up.

Once again let's try posting something that benefits the thread.

Hey all, thanks for the advice. I went and got dvdfabhd decrypter and it too failed. Got stuck in the beginning phase -analyzing disc.
The disc is clean no finger prints), so do I have a dreaded bad disc ?

Sounds like a bad disc. Return and exchange. Please post back with your results.

I have no idea where all the blank space came from. It must have been a glitch in my typing.

Found it fixed it. Thanks.

To everyone here at afterdawn, thanks soooo much. It was a bad disc after all. After exchanging the disc, I used dvd fab hd decrypter. It went smoothly and the disc backed up beautifully. Again, thanks so much for all the awesome help !

On a side note, has anyone watched the 3-D version ? The colors seem off, kinda like a bad 3-D job, where everything has 2 colors (it was the same on the origional too).

Agree with you Bryston that the 3-D movie seemed to lack much color. I was able to improve this problem a lot by setting my TV color settings to either "sports" or "video game" mode which increased the color intensity of the picture and helped a great deal in viewing in 3-D. If your TV doesn't have this feature you might just try and increase the color using the usual video settings found on all TVs. Hope this helps.

Also, I was able to backup my 3-D disc using AnyDVD 6.4.5.0 (older version) and Shrink. Did movie only, as always, and had no problems at all.

Yep - cookies are my fav - good homemade ones not 'box' cookies.

Backed up this movie w/ my usual AnyDVD & CloneDVD yesterday. No problems but from the looks of the disc I thought there might be. The press job was pretty poor.
