I downloaded a VOB file. Its a short movie file. It was the only option from the webpage. How do I use this file? How do I create a DVD from this file or create an ISO from this file to then create a DVD, without rendering the file or changing the quality of the original?

Put the file (VTS_01_1.VOB) in a folder and run Ifoedit.
It will create the rest of the DVD files.

I'll check out the program, only thing is that the VOB file is named like:

second_demo.VOB

should I change the file name to: VTS_01_1.VOB for the program to work? or will it work even if I don't change the file name?

Change the file name;it has to be in the form VTS_01_1.VOB and put it in a new folder.

The file should either be a VOB that was taken from an existing DVD or at least be a DVD compliant file (generally it should be mpeg2, have an ac3 audio stream and either 720x480 or 720x576).

It looks like somebody took only one file from DVD and that is what you got.
Just rename that to .mpg instead of .vob and import to authoring software to make DVD.
DVD need all kind of other files to work.
After authoring you will end up with VIDEO_TS folder which can be burned to DVD.

I tried both, Ifoedit software and changing the .VOB file name to MPG. Both the DVD and MPG file played in Windows Media Player!

I also found out the DVD created is for PAL, but luckily I own a Pioneer PAL/NTSC DVD player for my NTSC TV.

I just wish someone would create a one click software that would change PAL DVDs to NTSC, complete with menus for my other Players that are NTSC only playback. In the past I've had to buy some Region 2 PAL DVDs because they won't release certain titles here in the USA.

anyway,
THANKS!!

This is the method I would use also.

Somebody did. Ok maybe not one click. One program and maybe four clicks. First page: change the output format to either region, then just click "OK" or "Next" a few more times. Done.
