Hi,
I just bought some games like fifa 08 and svr 2007. i dont play them often but recently i found that my both dvd have got scratched and they wont play at all 2 my surprise they load on my pc and i can see all the containt in the dvd but not play it on my ps2 .so i thought of creating a backup dvd, so i used a good qaility of moserbear dvd-r and burned it by using dvd decrypter at a speed of 4x but 2 my surprise when i load the dvd-r in my ps2 i get a error msg,'Please insert a valid PS2 format disk'.
I dont know what i am doing wrong also i have wasted exactly 2-3 dvd in this process.I know that my ps2 can run backup dvd because my friend has given me his pirated dvd and it worked fine as my ps2 is premodded(modded at the time of purchase).
Thanks for the help in advance.

It's that red screen that says "Please insert a valid PlayStation 2 or PlayStation format disc" isn't it?

I usually use ImageBurn but I just made a backup of my original Viewtiful Joe 2 disc using DVD Decrypter just for the heck of it and it works fine.

This is exactly what I did.

I put the original Viewtiful Joe 2 disc in my DVD drive.

Opened DVD Decrypter

I clicked "Mode" and went down to "ISO" and selected "Read"

I made my destination a new folder on the desktop called "VJ2"

I clicked the "Decrypt" button that has the picture of the green arrow pointing from the DVD to the hard drive.

After it was done I took the Viewtiful Joe 2 disc out of the drive and put in a blank DVD-R (Sony 16D1 Made in Malaysia)

I clicked on "Mode" and went down to "Iso" and selected "Write"

For my source I selected the MDS file that DVD Decrypter had placed in my "VJ2" folder from it's read just a few seconds ago

I selected 4X as my speed under settings on the right side

I clicked the "Write" button that has the picture of the green arrow pointing from the hard drive to the DVD

That's all there was to it.

When you say you're friend has given you his pirated DVD that works fine, is that a DVD movie or a PS2 game?

I have gotten the screen before.

I think the problem needs to be isolated.

I would make a copy of the PS2 game that your friend gave you using the exact same steps as mentioned before.

Don't select an option that allows you to make an exact copy yet but instead rip the game that your friend gave you using DVD Decrypter and burn it using DVD Decrypter.

This will allow you to know if you've gotten the rip/burn process down correctly.

If this game works (using the exact same steps) then it looks like although your PC DVD drive can read the information on the soccer and wrestling game, it's not getting it good enough to make a good backup.

If the game doesn't work (using the exact same steps) make an exact copy of the game that your friend gave you. If it works you might want to double check that you are doing the rip/burn process correctly. If the game doesn't work I would trying burning on a different DVD burner.

Finally what is the Manufacturer ID of the blank media that you are using to burn the backup copies of FIFA and Smackdown? Using good quality media truly does make a difference. Have you tried using ImageBurn? Do you leave your computer in peace when doing the burns? As you already know, it's a delicate process.
