Hello folks,

I have been reading some of the tutorials & had a some questions?

1) I'm assuming now there is no reason to get a mod chip, if you follow Chunkhead's tutorial using the original version of splinter Cell?

2) Is there a particular version of XBOX that this works better on. I think I read it was a hit or miss for the 1.6 model?

3) If someone was to use a IDE 750 gig, I'm assuming Chunkhead's method will still work. One thing I can't remember was how big drive F & G would end up being ?

4) I believe that I read that you should play a game that contains the most recent MS dash so that it updates the unmodded box. I'm assuming this is so that later on if you play a game after its modded, it won't need to update, thus losing the mod?

Thanks!!

That's correct, from experience i can tell you it's easier to fix a softmodded xbox than a hard modded one even if you don't have the eeprom.bin. Chipped xbox's have advantages over softmodded boxes but it really makes no difference in this day and age.

1.0-1.5 you can use my cheater C files on. 1.6 and 1.6b have problems. They redesigned the code a bit, they redesigned the mb so you can't solder a conventional modchip to it. Though modchips come with lpc rebuild kits to get around this issue.

Assuming that you're going with the softmod method you would need to pick a hdd that is compatible. It needs to have the locking feature. check out this list

When you format use the AID disk and you should be fine. Data corruption occurs with partitions over 137gb. I know for a fact this works with 500 gig drives, as for 750...who would want a 750 in an xbox?

Just make sure your xbox live doesn't automatically log on and you're fine. I've never had an xbox have problems with any game updating the dash. Maybe it's just luck, but usually i'm unlucky.
