Hey guys I'm new to this forum and a total n00b when it comes to modding an Xbox 360. I have an Xbox 360 Elite at the moment and use it to play games online, however I'm now looking at getting myself another Xbox (as I know what is required to flash the Xbox will void the warranty and as the Xbox I have isn't the most reliable machine ever I don't want to risk it if anything happens to it).

So I have been looking at buying another Xbox to play back-ups on and came across the 'Xbox 360 Arcade' which is for sale locally for only £100 locally. Could you please let me know if the flashing/ modding would work fine on this console, what I'd need to do it (are there different methods for the different Xboxs? what will I need to buy? how much will it cost? etc.) and any threads that you think would help me. I have no intention of using this 360 online and absolutely no intention of modding my Elite so please don't try to convince me otherwise as I really don;t want anything happening to that console and would rather just pay to play games legitimately online.

All and any help is welcome, thanks for all replies in advance...

The only problem with the Arcade is the almost certain chance of getting a lite-on drive, just like any other new 360. Since they're read only memory, they can't be flashed. You'll have to buy another 360 drive and spoof the lite-on on it. There are several guides laying around, so it should be pretty easy for you to find a step by step guide and material list.

best bet would be to flash the xbox you have now. you will save yourself ALOT of trouble. and you can fix almost anything on it if it breaks. flash your old one, and buy the new one and keep it legit.
