I have a benq vad6038 in my x360 console, i took it out and used the vcc method (the one where you cut the traces and solder a switch)as i dont have via or nforce chipset, all went well, i then used dosflash to read my drive it worked 100%, so i then flashed my drive with benq ixtreme firmware and reconnected the traces, the installation went ok the only problem was when i put it back into my xbox the drive didnt open or read discs, so i took it out thinking it was a bad flash and reconnected it to the computer, now it keeps saying mtk vendor intro failed then i press y to go past it and it picks up the drive and shows it in the list, so after that i select the drives number and it says "Unknown Flash Chip!" OMG could somebody please help me or nudge me in the right direction i have easily spent over 15 hours with this problem.
oh yes its out there here is the link it puts the vad6038 into recovery mode though is unadvisable seen im having so many problems.
would anyone like to help me out?...
Sounds like your drive took a bad flash, I would reflash it, or try a different flash if one is available. I had a problem with Ixtreme1.4 and a samsung so I tried Xtreme53 and it worked so I just use that.
thanks for the reply wilmero, but the problem is i cant get it to work now, im using dosflash 1.6b and it wont erase or write or read the firmware, i try dosflash in manual mode with the following, "dosflash w ea00 1 a0 1 4 a:\orig.bin 0" but it just goes to mtk vendor so i reset the 360, then it says writing bank 0... and hangs for hours this also happens with erase.
