Can I flash a Hitachi ver. 0046DG with a VIA VT6421A

I have been trying to get this drive to read and write all day, using slax method, I was able to put it in mode B which I verified by the blinking green LED and 2 button presses to get the tray to close, and 1 more press to get it to "stay" closed. Drive is visible in "my computer" and device manager.

Also using iXtreme1.4_Hitachi and it goes through the forts 3 questions such as drive letter, drive speed, and backup folder name. After I press enter for the backup folder name.. it sits there for awhile, extracts all the files in it's folder per the batch file then it returns the Possible 4 causes error.

Can someone throw me a bone? Do I need a different sata card?

I find the batch file kind of quirky sometimes, try with the dvd player ejected, then try with it closed. Make sure there is no dvd in the tray as well, seemed to freeze mine!

Thanks, i tried that, also used slax 2.1 and still no go. Has anyone else had success with this? Any help is appreciated.
