So Iv read that this has been a problem since like late 2006 and all the threads I have read are old and no one replies to them so I am starting a new one.
My 360 already ruined several games...including fable 2 and spider man web of shadows which seriously hasnt even been 2 days and already scratch and cant play it!
So what should I do I have already returned the game since there is a 90 day defective warranty but I dont really feel like returing the game again 2 days later as the problem will surely continue.
What have you guys done to solve this problem is there anything that I can do my self or do I have to contact MicroSucks and posibly spend like $110 fixing this?
Usually this is because the CD drive is probably broken inside with something sticking into the discs
it may be that u have to call microsoft about this and you may have to send it to them and they will send you an new one
i have a drive doing that as well, i alyways kept my console vertical, but i have to lay this one on its side, it still grinds a little here and there but nothing like when it was standing up, it literally sounded like it was eating the cd.
i dont know if this would help but you can get these little sticky pads for the drive which are meant to stop scratching.
The little fix was made to stop the grinding taking place when people move there box from vertical to horizontal while it is on!.. though it "might" work for you as a quick fix to stop the scratching.
Personally id get the whole drive replaced or do it yourself. If you have the extended MS warranty id send it back, though be sure to reflash to original firmware if you do, just to be safe.
hope this helps, i know its not the ideal fix but if it stops the scratching then it all good, you can buy them off ebay, just type somethnig like "360 Protector", and there cheap :)
I am having the problem that it is putting small scratches into my verbatim backups. I played gta 4 for quite a will, almost finished the game and then it scratched the disk to where it was unplayable. I don't want to try my original disks because I payed 60 bucks for them!
