Hi Folks, I am trying to source an LG8164 optical drive to back up my Wii games but I am having no luck at all!! I have noticed however that this drive could (if an adapter fitted) be used as a replacement for the Xbox drive if the original failed in the Xbox. Does this mean that I could use the drive in my original xbox as a substitute for the LG8164 and connect to my pc?

If not does anyone have any ideas of where or how to get hold of one of these drives??

Just because the LG drive can be used as a replacement for the XBOX drive doesn't guarantee that your XBOX drive can rip Wii discs. The dependencies could have nothing to do with each other.

The LG drives are no longer manufactured and are only available on the secondary market.

The thread addresses all known drives that can read Wii discs and the degree of success that others have had. You would need to determine the Make and model of your XBOX drive and compare it to the known working ones to be sure.
