I know a guy who wants to sell me his xbox 360 for $50. It has the RROD problem. Should I buy it and try to fix it? He doesn't have a reciept do you guys think Microsoft will still accept it to be fixed?

I know I would buy it! even if you couldnt fix it, someone on here can. worst case senario you have lots of spare parts! you dont need a receipt for warranty work. Just make sure the sticker is intact!

Yea if the warranty sticker is still there and it wasn't manf. before today 3 years ago you should be able to get it easily repaired. Don't tell them you bought it from someone just say you never registered it or something (unless he already has). Even if it doesn't have the warranty sticker as long as he hasn't already messed around inside it probably can still be fixed.

I bought it. Thanks for the confidence. I registered and submitted a repair request for it. I am getting a box soon to ship it for repair. All at no charge. I didn't need to provide any proof of purchase or detailed info. I'll keep this thread updated.

grats on the rare loot, you pretty much just made $150. Make sure that the warranty sticker under the faceplate is intact before sending it in though, otherwise it will not be fixed. You can always buy one off ebay for $20.

I got a refurbed xbox 360 from the xbox repair center. They did it all for free. YEAH! I got the xbox 360 with 2 controllers, Fifa 2007, and a 64mb memory card for $50. I'm so happy. The guy who sold it to me asked me if they fixed it yet. I told him they haven't confirmed they recieved it and I don't know how much they're going to charge me. LOL. I don't want to piss him off. If I were him I would be pissed off.

Sorry to butt in here. But what you guys are saying is if I bought a Xbox used from a friend and it died and he doesnt have a receipt. As long as its been built within the last three years MS will warranty it?

Only if it has the 3ROD problem.

BTW, I just bought a unopened falcon benq permium with everything but the power brick for $75.

Got the power brick for $25.
