Basically what I want to be able to do is put downloaded movies (which are usually avi) in watchable DVD format on a 700mb disk. We all know that the average DVD file movie is going to be over 4GB. Here's some possibilities that I am unsure about and would like to try:

-putting the movie on multiple 700mb disk(preferably only using 2 disks)

-tricking the dvd player into recognizing the format

If anyone has information on either of these ideas or techniques of their own feel free to share them.

Summary: Put a movie on a 700mb disk and have it work with the average dvd player.

You can't.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

DVD video files recorded on a CD usually doesn't work great...
You have to use a DVD disc...

Plus, DVDs cost less than CDs!
So why bothering with CDs?

Cuz if you try to convert an 700mb AVI to dvd format
and then try to fit that movie on a 700mb disc,
the quality will suck bad...
really really bad...
There's no point in doing that...

So if you want your 700mb AVI movie
to be played in an non-AVI compatible dvd player,
you need to transform your AVI into DVD format...
Plain and simple...

Here's some softwares that do just that!
Including the burning after conversion is done!

if you download the old Tmpgenc 2.5 (free version)
you can use the KVCD templates - that should allow 2 hours,
or even a little more, onto a CD. I posted instructions about this here. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/706049

PS it's pretty obsolete now, why not switch to DVD ?
