Preamble: Greetings all....I have been trying to play a few PAL games on my Wasabi modded USA wii. Most work just fine as I have the unlocked the regions. A few games boot in the channel screen, but go to black screen after I click start, and it bricks the wiimote (all lights flash at bottom, wiimote unresponsive).

Meat & Potatoes: I have the Homebrew v9, TP hack, and Gecko 0S v 1.07b. I've tried to boot game(s) through Gecko 0S and no matter what setting I seem to toggle (none and forcing to PAL 50/PAL 60) i get game load fine, but with PAL video screen flipping on my American TV(in color, it was in b/w before I got the component cable). When I try to force to NTSC, I get a green screen of death. I don't know much about the other options on the Gecko 0S settings, but I've tried to toggle all rational combinations of settings with same results--screen flips, green screen. Tried to change the region to USA via RegionFrii--same result. Not Brick Blocking these games (heard that can cause issues with Gecko OS).

Questions are: Anyone running into similar issues? Are these games not cross region compatible? Is this a limitation of Gecko OS? I'm not a newb, but I'm not an old salt to this either. Looked on multiple forums, could not find answers...except that a component cable might help (a $25.00 lie).

Granted, If I was willing to blink very rapidly and nod my head very quickly in sync with the PAL output, I can play these games fine. Hours of work, research, and creating Frisbees later, i decided to post, please be kind.

Thanks for reading and any advice.

Games I've experienced this with:
Sim City Creator
More Game Party (i thought the title was wrong until I saw the boot screen)
...and a few others i cannot think of....

The only part of your post that I can address is:

Any more than $10.00 for a Wii component cable is "the dumb guy's price".

Thank you so much for your kind reply. Obviously the over priced component cable is my problem.

Update: I see Sim City Creator is on the Wii Region Patcher Compatibility List as not working. Does this list apply to Gecko OS region changes as well?
