Keeping certain scene translations on backups?

Well I've done quite a few backups and have run into this problem a few times. For example, in Star Wars Phantom Menace a few scenes where Anakin is talking to that flying bug thing in its own language the translation comes up on the bottom of the screen. When I do a backup of that dvd or any others that do that, I lose the translation and am kinda left wondering what the heck they're saying! Does this have anything to do with the subtitles even though its only occurring on certain scenes?
