Hi Guys im a long time lurker, first time poster. Hopefully my questions are easy ones for the video gurus here. Im using WinAvi to convert my avi,x264, and mpeg4 files to DVD, the problem that im having is that when i convert avi over dvd through the use of WinAvi i get no audio files, when it converts it gives me the standard video_ts folder and audio_ts folder but there are no files in the audio folder, when it is burned using Nero or WinAvi i get no audio on playback,... obviously, right?.Anyways what am i doing wrong, or what am i not doing, are the tools that im using less than par? If so whats better? Thanks in advance for your help.

An empty AUDIO_TS folder is normal with any program. I would rate ConvertXtoDVD the best all in one encoder, even gives a simple menu and good with audio. I have both and don't have WinAvi installed anymore, just personal preference, I'm pretty picky about quality. DVD Flick is good from what I hear and free too. After that, a standalone encoder and an Authoring program. Not great with audio but do you mean the audio won't play after conversion and is this on the pc or DVD Player and TV? Does the original have audio?

Misty cat-
I have no audio on playback on both Dvd player and pc after i convert to dvd(vob), when i insert my mpeg4 file into gspot, it says that the video "codec status undetermined" and the audio is MP4A:mpeg1.

Like I said, not too good with audio but almost sound's corrupt. There are some incredibly knowledgeable people here that can help with audio. Is this with every file or just this one? I'd download the trial of ConvertXtoDVD and try a few minutes in it (there will be a watermark in the trial) or their free version but it's getting pretty old now plus that GSpot message doesn't inspire any confidence: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_...xtodvd_free.cfm It can't be codec's as long as the original play's fine on the pc. Edit: could be you need an AC3 codec like AC3 Filter, AC3ACM, etc.

I think you hit the nail on the head, the original file was a x264 i converted to avi and i still had sound but when it was imported into Gspot either as a avi or x264 is couldnt determine the audio codec status (not sure if that defines corrupt audio) and when i would convert to dvd either from the x264 ot avi i would get no audio. I tried the same route using winavi and xilisoft video converter on some different files and they converted to dvd with no issue, so im leaning toward saying that the file i had was corrupt. Thanks for your help!
