I have a phat psp and I recently upgraded to custom firmware, 3.52 M33-4 to be exact. I've read places that you can emulate psx games on the cfw version I have, but I can't seem to figure out how. I just want to play dragon warrior 7, and maybe final fantasy 7-9 on my psp. On my computer that I use to do everything with my psp I have already made an iso of both of Dragon warrior 7's discs. So, I THINK I just need help making an EBOOT for DW7 and finding out how exactly to move it to my psp so i can play it. Can anyone help?

Here's a list of the 4 main PSX to PSP converters I've found out there.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/713109
I would STORONGLY suggest using RS-GUI PopStationMD. It allows for multi-cd eboot.pbp creation. As for a guide to using it?
Here's a quick and dirty guide.
-Download RS-GUI PopStationMD v3.0 from here
Start it up.
-Go to Settings > Number of ISOs (or CDs) > # you want. Final Fantasy 7 is 3 disks. Pretty sure DW7 is 2 discs.
-Next browse to each .ISO. First browse button to first disc. Second to second disc. Etc... Common sense.
-Next click the "Choose" button. A screen will pop up. Type in the name in the top box (i.e. Final Fantasy) then click search. Locate the file you want. Yours will most likely be an NTSC-U file.
-Now click BROWSE under output directory. Select where you want your finished Eboot to be placed.
-Choose your compression on each disc to the left. Suggest you keep them all at 9.
-Finally click MAKE.
If you want to make your PSX games all flashy and spiffy looking, you can go to the EXTRA tab at the bottom and add in pictures, video's, music, etc for when the game starts up. Not going into detail on that here. If you're interested look up a guide on RS-GUI PopStationMD (not to mention this program is really good about explaining what each file is under the extras tab)
Use http://popsdb.com/ for your customizing needs.
Cheers

Enjoy the hell out of it man. It's a great feeling to know you're holding a hand held playstation :)
First day I started doing PSX emulation I did a full run through on Mega Man Legends...only stopping for pop, food, and the bathroom lol.
Take care now.

sorry for the double post but I guess I spoke too soon... I successfully made an EBOOT file and I have both the iso files of both discs. I have the EBOOT file in the PSP/GAME folder and I have the isos in the ISO folder at the root of the memory card. Am I just putting them in the wrong place? Pardon my noobness and thanks for all they help you have given me.

Once you've successfully created an eboot.pbp file you have zero need for the .iso's anymore (Other then backup purpose i guess).
As for the eboot file, it should be in a folder that is appropriately named for the game.
Example, if I made a front mission 3 eboot.pbp game (which just happens to be the first successful eboot i made), then it would go in:
ms0:\PSP\GAME\FrontMission3\Eboot.pbp
The FrontMission3 folder separates your games b/c you obviously can't have 10 eboot's in one folder :P
As for that ISO folder that you were putting the games in...that's for PSP ripped games. If you had...say...Final Fantasy: Crisis Core ripped, it would go in there. Would most likely look like this:
ms0:\ISO\FinalFantasyCC.cso
Does that help?

yeah that helped a lot thanks. Ok I understand now, but I just have one more problem. Sorry to have to ask all these questions. But when I'm at the psp main menu and I go to Game>Memory Card, I see a file for Dragon Warrior VII, but when I select it, it says "This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted." So does that mean that I made the EBOOT incorrectly, because I know that the ISO works because I can play it on my computer perfectly. Again, thanks for all your help and I think this is my LAST problem.

Ok...
So, first off you're lucky. I just happened to have Dragon Warrior 7 on my computer in CD ripped format. So I just took the liberty of making an eboot for it.
I made sure that 2 CD's were selected in the settings menu. Browsed the first slot to disc 1 and second slot to disc 2.
Clicked on choose. Typed in "Dragon Warrior". Did search. Located "Dragon Warrior VII [NTSC-U] [Disc1of2]" and hit ok.
It populated the game title field with "Dragon Warrior VII" and the game code as SLUS01206
Set my output directory to my desktop.
9 for compression on both
Then clicked MAKE.
One thing you DEFINITELY...without a doubt....need to do is get something called POPSLoader.
And the reason for that is b/c different games react differently to different POPS. If you want more info on what POPS exactly is here's a link.
Anyway, if you look at this site you'll see people reporting on what POPS work with what games.
Here's a link for all the previous POPS from 3.00 to 5.00. Compiled this from a file that Shaggy uploaded a while ago and added some install instructions.
That should be all you need mate.
Oh, btw, make sure you run Dragon Warrior on POPS 3.71. It works the best.

Ug, I'm really bad with all this tech stuff, I just can't seem to get anything working... I don't know if I should just give up on it or not...
to pspwxp
I downloaded both of those things you told me, put them in the right place, and ran the program on my psp. It starts, but when it verifies the 500.PBP, it says that it is incorrect. What does that mean? Should I just download that file from another place and see if that works?
As to installing popsloader on my psp...
I downloaded the SEPLUGINS and put that folder at the root of the memory card. I also downloaded a psardumper, like the guide to using popsloader from this forum says. I can run the program, but when I do it says "Error 0x80020148 loading /starting pspdecrypt.prx." Can anyone help, and again thanks to everyone who has helped me out

Download this file
It has the 5.00 M33-3 updater and the 5.00 OFW in it. Just drop it into your memory stick's root and then disconnect from the pc and run the update app.

If you're not running 5.00 M33-2 or M33-3 i'm pretty sure the above file won't work. Update first then try doing the POPSLOADER.

Ok, so I finally upgraded to custom firmware 5.00 M33-2 and I ran the psar dumper, and I think it worked. How do I know if popsloader is installed or not? Also, to the people that have Dragon Warrior VII working on their PSPs, how big in bytes/gigabytes/etc. is your EBOOT file? Because when I try to run the Dragon Warrior VII program from the PSP menu>game>memory stick it says "the game cannot be started. the data is corrupted" so I just wanted to know if for some reason the iso to Eboot converter wasn't working. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to ask this, but could someone, if they are allowed to, post a link to a working EBOOT for dragon warrior vii that is NOT in the form of a torrent.

Mine is roughly 1.03GB. That's no specialized boot screens. Just the 2 CDs converted to Eboot.

1)Why didn't you just upgrade to M33-3? Not a huge issue, just saying you could've saved some time on upgrading later :P
2)I don't get the obsession you have with psar dumper? You don't need it...for any of this. Get rid of it.
The only relation it has to PSX games is ripping the POPS from old versions which I already gave you a link for (and believe me, making a POPS pack is a whore. After ripping like 10 pops and wasting a couple 3 hours of my time I found shaggy's and said screw it and used his rips)
3)Only things needed for playing PSX on PSP is:
-a)psp with cfw on it (preferably 5.00 m33-3)
-b)ISO of psp game you want. Use alcohol 120% to rip your own personal psx CDs to your hard drive or download them of the internet.
-c)program for converting psp iso's (I suggest RS GUI PopStationMD v3.0)
-d)popsloader
-e)psx to psp POPS compatability web page
Quote: Because when I try to run the Dragon Warrior VII program from the PSP menu>game>memory stick it says "the game cannot be started. the data is corrupted"
If your eboot is coming up corrupt then I'm guessing that your disc(s) may be corrupt. Get a new copy of the discs. There's places to downloaded them on the internet, but due to AD forum policies I can't post links to them. Not hard to track 'em down.

ok thanks for all the information everyone, you don't realize how lost I would be without all of you. And I thought I needed psar dumper because it mentions that in the "guide to using popsloader" from these forums. Ok I'll just look for a new ISO for the two disks, but the weird thing is that I own DWVII and I copied those disks to my computer creating an ISO. I also have epsxe on my computer and both disks work fine... I guess I'll just make a new ISO. OK thanks everyone.
