does the 360 elite zephyr release say zephyr in the same place that the regular 360 says it because i recently well just today got the red ring of death and i was wondering so i would know why it happened if the 360 elite says the same thing in the same place so i know when i go to best buy later this week what to look for when they bring that black box of joy and awesomeness out I want to make sure i get a zephyr release and and does the intercooler help prevent the RRoD

i almost forgot i have an xbox 360 elite that has an HDMI port and cable but it doesn't have the code zephyr on it which leads me to believe that the 360 i got didn't have the fix in it also were there any fixes since christmas of 2007 that would make me feel more safe about it

well as far as the whole zephyr thing is concerned i'm not too sure about the specific code name. However I am almost positive that all elites (and all 360's manf. after nov. 2007 as far as i know) all have the falcon mobo's. Which are the ones w/ the 65nm processors that are supposed to run cooler. However these are still prone to the rrod, as are all 360's, as will be the ones that have the 65nm processors and gpu's until they fix the issue w/the solder. Yes they have a lower fail rate, but are still failing at a high rate.

As far as the intercooler is concerned i have heard some horror stories and also seen some pictures of damage those things have done. Apparently they have been fixed, but i have seen the back's of xbox's burnt b/c of those things shorting and they actually caused the rrod. therefore i would never trust one, however i did see a stand somewhere that had fans that blew air up through the bottom of the case, and that might be a more plausible solution.

db5304 is right it's most likely going to be a falcon. There's nothing wrong with the falcons i have 3 of them right now, and two xenons.

You want to have a falcon over a zephyr because zephyr was the first hdmi xbox to come out. The falcon is the 3rd and a revision of the zephyr.
