Possible to clone HDD for xfer?

If you have a 20GB and 120GB 360 hdd, is it possible to remove the drives from the cases and use cloning and partitioning software to clone the 20 to the 120? I ask because I was going to get a used 120 from my friend who works at a game store, but they don't give the transfer kit with it.

Ok, I've tried several searches and come up with nothing useful. Is there some post that everybody else knows about but me regarding 360 HDD management?

So the serial # of the drive has nothing to do with it? The 360 would just see it like a PC would see a similar clone job (same exact drive already linked to my console but just more empty space?)
