JVC offers 3D projector for home theater use

article published on 9 November, 2008

This article needs some clarification.

I already have this projector in my setup (upgraded from a Sony VPL-VW50) and it can't do 3D on its own.

When the 3D capability was demonstrated at the Fall 2008 EHX show, they needed two of these projectors being fed the signals from a Sensio media server which incorporated the 3D decoder.

Since one of the JVC's alone can be considered a high-end purchase (MSRP - $7995), then 2 of these projectors plus the Sensio server/decoder will be out of reach for all but a select few.

Sensio 3d supports 2D, and 3D via polarization, alternating fields (shutter, like iMax), anamorphic (those cheezy 2 color glasses), and any future 3d format.

So yes they support specs-free as vaporware, so don't hold your breath.
