Are you saying that converting from AVI to DVD format stops or that the burning part stops?
ConvertX (and optionally, Nero) saves the output to a folder. If you can play the files in that folder, try burning the disk with Imgburn.

When it stops converting , does the PC freeze up?
Does it do it with all files or just one?
Have you tried converting a file that you know gave no problems in the past.

sometimes the pc freezes and other times the pc shuts down & restarts itself. No, i dont have anything on the hard drive that i've done before, when it worked.

Check the CPU temperature during the conversion.
It will rise somewhat, but it shouldn't rise enough to shut down.

The cpu has a maximum temp which can be found from the manufacturers site.
I think Nero has a utility which gives details of the cpu type etc.
Else pause the screen during boot-up to read the information.

There are some numbers here - but the manufactures site is best.

Thank you, Attar. I will get my hubby to check those out, as he's more computer savy than me. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks for taking time out to help me.

Kind regards, Lynn
