I don't think emule is that slow. I have a 512-connection and I always get about 50Kib/s. You should also try bittorrent.

yeah mirc is a pain. Its alot like dos. I dont use it so I dont remember exactly but little messages will go by in the chat window saying type "this" to get this file. Look out for those. Then youj get connected to them and you browse their files just like you would in dos.

Yea i didn't figure out mirc, but know im using dc++, and i have to say it's the fastest of all the applications, the downside of it is, if you want to get on a hub you have to have a minimum of 1 gb of downloads, so keep on downloading

actually there are some hubs that require alot more than 1gb of sharing. Ive seen some hubs that require 20gb of shared files. The ones that require more are obviously better hubs. So yeah, keep downloading. As for mirc, if you understand dos, mirc isnt that hard to figure out. But if you have never messed with dos back when you were using Win98, that I would say, just forget mirc.

this is how to download with mIRC
make sure mIRC is installed on your pc then
goto the page www.packetnews.com and do a search for the files your after. click on the #number of the file u want.
mIRC should now start up on its own and connect to the server + channel
Wait till your in the channel and just press ctrl+v.
Your download should now start..
Hope that helps you folks
mIrc is quick(most of the time).
Sit back and enjoy your new stuff.

For those of you who dont know anything but point and click, stay out of MIRC, leave it to people who dont mind doing more then just pointing and clicking to get the job done. That being said, here's a site with a solid MIRC tutorial: http://dgt.glowie.com/Mirc.html

i think wat gary mentioned is the easiest way for "point n click " habituatted users..
Just go to packetnews or ircspy.com ..and follow the steps mentioned ctrl + v is the only thing u need
..tho if i vaguely remember ..ircspy also has a tut fo rthat..
thats how i started long time back
its very simple after that..no dos etc knowledge reqd..

yeah, I didnt mean you HAD to have knowledge on dos to work. Im just saying, the way it works and the way you navigate through peoples files is just like dos. It may have changed since I last used it. And if you ask me, it was a pain in the ass, and waiting in line wasnt worth it.
