I know it might sound very Newbie Question .But as i get from previouse threads that i can install a notebook sata 2.5" HD to the PS3 .
So does it mean that i should just get the 40Gb PS3 and not the 80Gb as there is no other Difference rather than the Size of the HD.(i Couldn't find any 60GB ).
Or is there any other difference between 40 & 80.
Another question the external HD can be installed without opeening the PS3 ???

Some 80 gig's have 4 usb ports, memory card readers, and bwc. They're starting to become harder to find though.

I tried to find one but i couldnt here in qatar it is impossible.
I can transfer data using an external Harddisk thu so i need only 2 USb ports no more

The 40 gig would be fine for your needs then, the 40 gig's use a slightly newer processor that runs cooler and uses less energy.

The only major thing it's missing is backwards compatibility, though to a lot of people they end up never playing ps2 games on their ps3 anyway.

I think that its only the older NTSC 80GB models which have 4 USB ports and BC because the 80GB PAL models which were first released only had 2 USB ports and didn't have BC.

Do the newer 80GB's contain the newer processor found in the 40GB models?

From what ive heard teh new 80gb ps3s are just the 40gb ones with a larger hdd. So yes.

And whats this about the "first" 80gb pal ones, have they released another version? as far as i know its still 40gb ones with 80gb hdds... from what nixz is saying it seems there is another version with more than 2 usb ports...
