hi guys just had my xbox flashed by a local guy i know you cant play backups on xbox live ....but can i still go on xbox live on my original games or will ms pickup that my drive has been flashed ....also what do i do if i get you xbox needs to update ..will this effect my xbox
you can go online with burnt games, there's nothing stopping you from doing this. and even if you play original store bought games online, MS has the potential of detecting that your drive has been flashed. this is because it is believed that there is a storage of of played games somewhere on your console that is sent to MS each time you log into live, and if enough games are flagged, such as burnt games that have bad security information, played before street dates, etc. then they will look into that and possibly ban your console. so if i were you, i would just play your burnt games online, as the number of days until you get banned are counting down.
as for your updating question, it should not affect your xbox, however, with the new dashboard coming out in a week or so, who knows.
once you connect to live your console will send all the information about what games you have played to MS, then they can possibly tell that your drive is flashed.

1. have the latest firmware 2. don't play games that haven't been released
3. check your backups with abgx360 twice (there is a tutorial in the sticky thread. follow that.)
