I can record a movie to dvd ok and play it back on the computer but
when I playback on a couple of dvd players the movie doesn't play
from the beginning but starts part way through.This is a non encrypted movie.Could it be the medium I am recording on or just the
original movie source? Other movies work without problems.

You cannot use Nero 8 with DVD Shrink.

Do what you need to do with Shrink and close.
Then open Nero and use.

I will give that a try.
I have been used to letting DVD SHRINK do all the work.
By that I mean I open the dvd and then allow a backup and then
automatic burn to a blank dvd.
Perhaps I should reauthor and then have Nero burn the dvd from the
file saved?
