"Internet search giant Google has added a 3D exploration of Ancient Rome to its Google Earth software. Users are able to stand in a completed Colosseum, take a look at the Basilica, or visit the Roman Forum, where Caesar was killed.

Bernard Frischer, who worked with Google on the project, said: "The project is a continuation of five centuries of research by scholars, architects and artists since the Renaissance, who have attempted to restore the ruins of the ancient city..."

Google said of the project: "Whether you are a student taking your first ancient history class, a historian who spends your life researching ancient civilisations, or just a history buff, access to this 3D model in Google Earth will help everyone..."

Fun, and it will be a great tool for classrooms (although I personally never liked studying Rome in k-12...perhaps because there was no cool technology!)
