I've just started backing up my copy of Gone in 60 Seconds from DVD->SVCD with DVD2SVCD, and once it went to TMPGEnc, it says that the video is gonna take about 36 hours to complete. Is this correct or will it change??
Edit: the time is increasing too...weird

Mmmmm. What Pc are you doing this on? My P4 1.8 normally takes about 9 hours for ripping encoding and finalizing the svcd.
This type of stuff can be done much faster on modern machines, but you can still get good results if you change various setting to reduce the quality and encoding compression.

I recommend to go with best quality rather than aiming to reduce the time it takes, you will just swear later on your decision and end up ripping the movie again at later point with best quality settings.

Task Priority tells the proggies either "take everything out my computer, even that some useless stuff might be running meanwhile" or "hey, I still wanna at least browse the Web during the compression" (high/low).

Movies vary -- their complexity, etc effects directly to the time what it takes to encode the movie. If you have totally black picture in video for 2 hours, it will take much less time to encode it compared to movie of same length.
