Need Help Burning 3 Hour Movie, please!

Hi,Trying to burn a 2hr 50 min movie,I am using Nero 6 (newest version) the movie is a (avi)At first i tried to burn it with a dvd-r disc,nero put the video mode to super long play,so when the movie got done transcoding it said it will not fit on to the disc,So i put in dvd+r disc which has (super long play video mode)Still says will not not fit. Finally i trimmed the movie to 1hr 25 min (first half)and it says it will not fit on to the disc,and it is in standard video mode.Any idea why this first half of the movie will not fit on to the disc? Thanks for the help!

It will need to be under 4440MB in size to fit on a disc
