Ok I have a load of mkv files i want to join and convert to dvd i got this guide http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/...th_freeware.cfm to convert mkv to dvd assumed that it would work the same way as the " ConvertXToDVD " softwear works with avi files as in that i would be able to load all the mkv files in press the button and get the dvd out this not the case it seems the softwear in the above guide will only load up one file

can anyone please advise thanks

ok i using the above guide and getting error " floating point division by zero "

anyone got any idear why ?

No idea on this but maybe mkv merge or DVD Flick encodes mkv, maybe it will add more than one file. You could convert the mkv to avi, AlltoAVI is free and one I've used for one mkv. Apparently VirtualDub will join them: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/virtualdub_join_avi.cfm

Thanks Mistycat "AlltoAVI" works to convert the mkv's to avi fine so i will then join the avi's using "ConvertXtoDVD". all i need to know is if anyone knows the best quality settings to use in the "alltoavi" softwhere goes without saying i want to preserve the best quality i can

I can't really help with any quality setting's, only used it two or three times testing to correct a sync issue in DVD Flick; still don't know why that fixed it. Could have messed with Bitrate and Aspect Ratio, they were small mkv (40 MB), music video's but I believe a setting of 1500 gave the same result as 5000. I do remember that quality on the pc between the avi in DVD Flick and the mkv in ConvertXtoDVD seemed comparable although I didn't burn them to DVD and might have seen a difference there.

well tell ya what i read a load of real complicated instructions for changing mkv to dvd but this ALLtoAVI and CONVERTXtoDVD is easy and works good

ok if i want to simply cut like a few seconds of the end of an avi before i convert to dvd,,,, will i lose any quality by using windows movie maker type softwear or should i get my mate to do it with adobe premier
