I have reserved an xbox360 60 gig model complete with extra free wireless controller and 3 free games, the cost is £170 from a major uk store. ive never had a 360 before having gone from a ps1 to an xbox to a wii. All have been chipped for use of my backups, but having spent the last few hours lookinh through here I see ive missed the boat on an easy 360 mod as the new ones will have a liteon drive. So the question is at that price with the free extra controller and games is it worth buying and then modding afterwards or should i just buy a premodded box (seen prices around the £240 mark. Problem is I only have untill the end of monday to decide :o(

personally i say thats quite a good deal
last xmas i got mine from pc world which was
360 premium with 20 gig hd
1 controller as standard
Assasins creed
halo 3
virtua fighter 5 (hate this type of game so left it sealed and sold on ebay for £30)
all that cost me £269
which last year seemed the best deal around with such god games as asassins creed & halo3.
Your deal seems pretty good but depends what games your getting with it matey. I would defintly say buy one non modded and get all the free stuff you can get with it as this time of the year you get shop[s throwin stuff at you to get you to buy it.
I personally work for toys r us and we havnt really got a deal on at the min that would top the deal your talking about, most of our packages come with awful games
i did however see an ad in the paper this morning for hmv i think (possibly blockbuster) advertising the 360 with gears of war 1 & 2 for £199 i think.
Just have a quick shufty round then etm ate on all the major sites i.e. game, blockbuster, gamestation, comet, currys, pc world etc
let me know how you get on anyways =]

forgot to add
i paid £269 for mine then on top of that paid £30 to get it flashed with 1.4 iextreme firmware
so ended up at £300 by the time i'd done
so considering your gonna be gettin an extra 40 gig on your hardrive for £100 less than i paid a year ago plues better free stuff you should be able to find yourself a spot on deal

The Argos deal is great.. £169.99.. you can't beat it anywhere. I have reserved 6 so far for shop customers who have credit problems but can pay me cash.

I shopped around a bit and plumped for the Elite with 120GB hdd and ALL cables etc for £229 i think it was. Bought Halo3 new for £25 on impulse though i should really have gone to Gamestation as they have it for £20, plus of course it's probably at almost giveaway prices on eBay by now.
But regarding bundles i didn't like any of the bundled games and the bundles i saw were more expensive than machines without games, at the places i looked at anyways. I should maybe have waited 'til nearer to Christmas but what the hell.
I've installed the NXE update but have no intention of using backups on (or being daft enough to go on Live with it early), was just after the ability to install games to the hard drive.

i think ill buy it and leave it sealed till ive made my mind up. the games should ebay for about £30 bringing it down to £140 (yep its the argos one) I thought id donr my research and now you say games can be installed to the hard disc !!, I loved that on my old x box, fast booting and no disc dammage, ill have to do more research(i thought it was impossible) I still like the idea of being able to play backups, the kids are 7 and 10!!

Oops i forgot to state the obvious, the NXE update isn't official for a few days, the 19th; but yes, i have loads of old type xboxes, used by me and the kids for movies, games and music. In fact today for the first time i tried out System Link on 3 old type xboxes, my girls are getting good at Networked Halo 2 LOL. Anyways, back to the 360, i looked at the Argos deals but in the end went for a.n.other large brick & mortar store, and it's not quite XBMC (just have to find out how to play non-Microsoft content now - typical of Microsoft to ignore the rest of the world ie those who don't/won't use their WMV format!), but the new 360 dashboard is pretty cool.

Picked it up today and got 4! free games, it looks like it has an hdmi port. now to find someone to change the dvd drive and all that spoofing malarky :o)
