This should be in the "DVD Burners" forum.

That being said, with your price range I would recommend either the Plextor PX-708A 8X or the Pioneer 107 8X.

Both are the very fine, solid burners from two of the most respected makers around. Read up on both of them and see which one fits the bill for you.

The Plextor comes in both flavors and I'm not sure if there is an external version of the Pioneer.

If you're looking at an external burner make sure your PC supports USB2 (emphasis on the "2")

I went to the website www.pricegrabber.com and it says that the plextor is 1,891.That seems a bit pricey.

$175 is about right for the Plextor PX-708A - it's one of the latest generation (8X) burners which will be relatively expensive.

The Pioneer DVR-107 can be had for around $145 if that price suits you better.
