My wii aint reading discs not back ups or original games.If the mod chip has lost a connection obviously i realise this would stop the back up games being played,but would it also prevent the wii from playing any disc.

No only backups would be affected- not originals. Well actually if the solder job caused a short then it would pose as a problem...

Ok thanks.Just wishful thinking on my part.Would be easier to open it up and solder a joint rather than replace the driver.
